Solid Buy--Especially if it's on special

Jeff M., Newegg
20 January 2012
  • Summary: As other reviewers have mentioned, the plastic case of the laptop is pretty flimsy. This is pretty common of gaming laptops in this price range, but you'd think the casing should be a bit stronger if you're spending $1000+.
  • Pros: All of the features and specs of this laptop are great. I've played Metro 2033, Battlefield 3, and other demanding games with no problems. The USB 3.0 ports are a great addition, and the RAID 0 HDDs allow for speedy file access. I bought this laptop when a $220 promo and a $160 MIR were being off...
  • Cons: I have had several issues with the power adapter and port. When I first received the laptop, I noticed the adapter seemed a bit loose when plugged into the laptop. After a few weeks of use, the laptop suddenly stopped being able to charge. I was forced to send it back to MSi to be fixed. I receiv...

Great LAPTOP

kim-viet l., Newegg
11 December 2011
  • Pros: There is a button to increase the fan power. It's great to keep your laptop cool during intense gaming. There is a drastic change in computer temperature when I press this easy to find button. :This is a very very fast computer LAPTOP. The ram + 2nd gen i7 processer + GTX 560M = Everything to pla...
  • Cons: I find it inconvenient that you have to press the function key combined with the left and right arrow key to change the volume, especially with no backlit keyboard - with bad lighting. The click pad is very hard to press at times...so now I prefer to use a mouse instead. When I first unboxed it, ...

All good but the keyboard

Ming-Wan Y., Newegg
21 November 2011
  • Summary: Had to add some padding beneath the keyboard to improve the typing experience............works to a certain extent.
  • Pros: Almost nice everything! Nice screen, great audio, super speed..............put a SSD and bump up the HDD EI to 7.9 Light weight compared to a Asus G53S
  • Cons: Keyboard feels cheap and too much flex User risks voiding the warranty if changes HD's or memory

User Review

Colin L., Newegg
11 November 2011
  • Summary: I don't personally use most of the touch buttons at the top of the laptop. Just Turbo and Fan, occasionally the Bluetooth. People that say they keyboard is flimsy must be pounding on theirs, because I haven't had an issue with it flexing in much.
  • Pros: Great gaming laptop. Currently playing 40k: Space Marine, and Battlefield 3 all on maxed out settings, no frame rate drop when Turbo mode is on. LED's are a cool little extra that you can play around with. Not heavy at all. I'm coming from a 18.5" laptop, so the portability of this one is much ea...
  • Cons: No huge downsides for it, just a few quirks and little things. Had to download software to fix the processor so turbo would stay on for more than 6 seconds. No really a big deal, just something that should be updated prior to sale and shipment. No Numlock and Capslock indication is a bit annoying...

Great Laptop

David B., Newegg
18 October 2011
  • Summary: Overall I am very satisfied with the performance but disappointed at the build quality of the case and especially the touchpad and keyboard. I voided the warranty by removing one of the Hard Drives to install a SSD to boot from.
  • Pros: Loads of Memory, 192 bit bus 560M, dual HDD bays, Blu-Ray Burner, USB 3.0, ESATA, Great Audio quality Full HD display with 180 degree swivel. Great for Gaming and multimedia! About as fully loaded with options as they come.
  • Cons: Keyboard is flimsy on the sides and flexes with even the slightest of key presses and it makes noise as it flexes. Touchpad is not as responsive as other notebooks that I have had and the scrolling feature SUCKS. The rocker button for the touchpad feels flimsy. Warranty void sticker over the scre...

Not a bad buy

Alan S., Newegg
22 September 2011
  • Summary: I like it. I wrote more in the cons, but those are all little things. This machine is a beast. Just look at its specs, look at its picture. Back at its specs, back at its picture. LED LIGHTS! ok, go clean yourself. Good computer for what you pay for it.
  • Pros: Hm, Lets see, the computer has all the internal guts you need, it can run anything you throw at it...it looks like something that NewEgg won't let me say but every grown man loves deeply. Begins with an s ends with an ex...you know the one?
  • Cons: No num lock display, I can see what people mean about the keyboards pushing in but its not too bad, Occasionally the cursor will move around on me because of the touch pad, and the way I type...and the Dirt 3 promo code is fake.

Nice for gaming

Barnabas S., Newegg
22 September 2011
  • Summary: --The following comments are not really cons, just me being nitpicky. -Caps lock activation not obvious, but hardly a bother to me as if it is on unintentionally its easily rectified. Other reviewers are overly picky and blowing this issue out of proportions.
  • Pros: -This beast is nice and quick playing games with the turbo boost on (I've played Aion, Fable 3, etc, full quality graphics with 50+ fps). -The row of shortcut touch keys are a fabulous addition that they should tout more as they are very handy and look great. -Speakers are neat looking and quite ...
  • Cons: -Keyboard not back-lit (you shouldn't be playing in the dark anyways though) -Audio ports are in an awkward spot, right next to where you would have the mouse if you use one. -Plastic around the screen seems a little flimsy, needs more solid support. The right side of the screen will not stay tog...

Very good laptop

Brandon G., Newegg
13 September 2011
  • Summary: - Looks nice - Feels pretty sturdy - Speakers are very good quality - the LED's are kind of pointless. Its fun to turn them on when showing someone your laptop. Other than that Id like them a whole lot more if I could choose the color. All in all.
  • Pros: I bought this for school and gaming. For anyone who plays WoW this thing can run ultra in a city without a single bit of lag. The screen resolution is amazing! One of the most crisp screens i've ever seen on a laptop. For me, I got next to no bloatware whatsoever.
  • Cons: Only a few cons here: - the number pad 0 key is kind of small and not where it usually is on a desktop. This causes me to hit the right arrow instead of the 0 key at times. Kind of annoying but i'm sure i'll get used to it. Same problem with the shift key. Its kind of small and out of place and s...
