Nothing but issues

Bryan G., Newegg
27 December 2014
  • Pros: None.
  • Cons: Graphics card failues in windows 7 constantly. I have to reboot this machine at least every other day because it just fails and crashes from the driver errors. The raid 0 disk configuration is starting to go, which is a pain since raid 0 provides no redundancy. I have treated this laptop pretty n...

Dissapointing

Steve S., Newegg
25 November 2012
  • Summary: Would expect more from this company, I am highly dissapointed with this product. I was hoping to purchase a quality laptop that would last me for the next few years. Why cant this laptop just work? Lasted under a year, look elsewhere.
  • Pros: Fast, good HDD space, nice display. Decent stats.
  • Cons: Just a few hours ago, the speakers started popping loudly in a metronome pattern upon powering on the machine. Now sound doesnt work right and seems to perform much slower than usual. I leave this on my desk. Never dropped or abused. After researching it seems to be a faulty motherboard. Sounds c...

They forgot to mention Intel"s Chip Problem

Paul T., Newegg
11 May 2012
  • Summary: I wanted to like this laptop since finally I could play games with the graphics cranked, but now I am not sure I trust MSI as a manufacturer. We'll see how the repair goes I guess
  • Pros: RAM, utilities inc.
  • Cons: But all the good doesn't change the fact that MSI discontinued the GT683R and vendors dumped these on the market due top a problem with the Intel chip in the laptop. I have been having problems in what seemed a random pattern until I thought to look up the chip. Voila! there it was and yes my chi...

Speechless

Blaine H., Newegg
10 February 2012
  • Summary: honestly I always liked MSI, was all about them for years.
  • Pros: its sharp looking
  • Cons: Lost the 1st RMA, BSOD randomly right out of the box on day one. Purchased gx600r on 2/19/2011 5/27/2011=(NR11018097) 7/20/2011=(NRE11024455) 8/17/2011=(NRW11028229) (all RMA's for the same BSOD issue, as i paid shipping to MSI 4x fed ex($$). Everytime i got it back, it was more worn, scratched u...

Terrible

Blaine H., Newegg
6 February 2012
  • Summary: I did not buy this msi, i got the 660gx, ended RMA'ing the computer up to 4 times. I paid for the shipping each time, didnt have a computer for months sometimes. each time i got it back it was more and more worn and scratched up. I trade stocks, and do a lot over computers for my business's.
  • Pros: looks tight, leds, great sound everything was nice when operating.
  • Cons: Personally favored MSI as a top favorite, and honestly will avoiding ever buying another product from them again. BOS every time i tried to do anything and every time they sent it back from an RMA It was like they did nothing but reinstall the OS and would go back to BOS. you'd think a computer y...

Awful

rocky r., Newegg
26 January 2012
  • Summary: Motherboard crapped out after less than 6 months. Considering the cost, this laptop has performed very badly. Running games like Skyrim and The Witcher 2 is almost impossible at any higher setting, which is disappointing.
  • Pros: Great technical specifications. Amazing sound system.
  • Cons: Relatively poor performance in gaming, considering what it SHOULD be capable of. Benchmarked poorly. Terrilbe driver support for Nvidia card. Terrible trackpad and keyboard.

Poor technical support

Arthur F., Newegg
21 January 2012
  • Summary: Find a company that cares about customer support
  • Pros: Works well at times
  • Cons: I am writing this review on the GT600 series in general. I have had a GT680R for almost a year now. It has been RMA'd twice now for the same issue. Both times it would stop charging unless you actually were pulling down on the power cord where it plugged into the back of the laptop. I just reciev...

Fast laptop - short lifespan

ANTHONY D., Newegg
24 November 2011
  • Summary: Laptop was great while it ran right, very fast and played almost all games on high settings.
  • Pros: - Fast - Large HDs - Fast?
  • Cons: - 5 1/2 months into owning it, it appears the vid card has crapped out. I didn't register the laptop within "30 days" of purchase, so I'm hosed. MSI couldn't possibly make it more confusing or difficult to get this fixed..

RMA Process is a joke.

Derek J., Newegg
22 September 2011
  • Summary: I would think twice prior to purchasing a machine from MSI. I know many people have had good results with this machine, and I wish I was one of them. At this point, I feel like the $1500 spent here will not result in having a working machine and I'm disappointed by that.
  • Pros: None Thusfar, Original Machine Was Ok Except For Non-Functioning "A" Key, Appeared to be very fast. -This is an addendum to my previous rating prior to sending the machine in to be worked on by MSI.
  • Cons: 2nd Machine Non-Functional, Won't Run the bundled 3-D Benchmark Stone Giant for more than 3 seconds. Won't play an avi file in Windows Media Player with hanging and skipping. Cannot Obtain Windows Experience Index Store. Hangs to the point of being unusable in Windows Internet Explorer. Ok. So He...

No longer boots

Stephen F., Newegg
13 September 2011
  • Summary: I did buy an extended warranty with this product. However, I cannot find my extended warranty. I'm not sure what my next step should be. If someone could give me my warranty number it would be much appreciated. I'll probably leave a 5 egg review after I get this thing up and running again.
  • Pros: Amazing specs. It's light speed for this laptop. The integrated wifi had decent half n speeds (144 which is what my router is set to). It's a bit small to fall into the desktop replacement category, but it fits that role. The power converter is a full 150 watts.
  • Cons: Currently the machine does not boot into windows. I ran the F3 recovery tool for 1524 minutes (about a day) and it did not complete. During boot up it says an error occurs with one of the hard drives. I'm guessing one of the hard drives has a problem the utility cannot overwrite, the hard drive i...
