DON'T BUY MSI

Anon, Amazon
28 August 2014
  • Summary: TL;DR: Don't buy MSI. Get an alienware. Can I play graphic intensive games? So, I got this maybe 2 years ago now. At first, it was great. Playing games was amazing; this thing can play almost anything - only exception is ArmA III (*can't play it on Ultra/ even on normal settings my FPS can...

Good performance, questionable build quality.

The Helmsman, Amazon
21 August 2014
  • Summary: This is my third laptop, first from this company. I won't be buying another. Unfortunately, I've had lots of problems with it. I use the heck out of my laptops and transport them frequently, so perhaps I put more wear and tear on them than the average person does, but the reliability and durability...

  • Summary: Great computer and it super powerful. Graphics and best sound. This computer rocks. It has everything and it is top of the line. Super fast and the lights are cool also. Plenty of space for music, movies and games. 1T.... Wow.

Happy with this purchase.

Kevin S. Grail, Amazon
21 October 2012
  • Summary: I needed a laptop on which to do video editing. My old machine could not handle the work at all. This machine has all the power needed, and a large enough screen to see what I'm doing. There is so much RAM that my machine generally runs with 6 GB used at all times, but with only 20% of CPU usage.

I couldn't be happier

Jesse F., Newegg
20 June 2012
  • Summary: if you are looking for a good, durable gaming laptop, this is a very good option.
  • Pros: This thing is FAST! I play lots of games and haven't found one it can't run yet. love it!
  • Cons: My only complaint is that when typing sometimes ill graze the touchpad and it'll jump around the page. This could be just a personal problem but i prefer using a mouse anyways so i just disable the touch pad.

Great Laptop

Christopher H., Newegg
14 February 2012
  • Summary: Been buying from Newegg for years and been lucky to have no issues with equipment. This is my first review of a product because it was such a great machine.
  • Pros: Was looking for a Laptop that would last and could handle high end gaming with around 15inch screen. Was planning on buying the MSI model below this one when newegg post this one so have had it since it was released. I have had zero issues. Built my own desktop less then 3 years ago with top of t...
  • Cons: The one thing I would have liked is a back lit keyboard but has not been a major issue for me but others might have a problem with that. This thing is very powerful so it will drain the battery so make sure you have a charger handy. Also, it is heavy for a 15 inch but not the worst.

Loving it!

Matt S., Newegg
11 February 2012
  • Summary: Very pleased with my purchase, but make sure you fill out your warranty info when you get your comp - their site says you don't need to register, but apparently if you don't, they won't fix your computer. They only give you a few weeks to register from date of purchase, so don't delay!
  • Pros: Super fast. Overclocking button is great, as is the gaming fan button. Keeps the innards nice and cool. Has maxed out settings of every game I've thrown at it. Screen side lighting feature is sort of gimmicky, but I like it.
  • Cons: Flimsy case. If I travel with the thing, I'll often have to click the two halves of the screen shell back together. No back-lit keyboard and buttons are strangely laid-out. I have a mechanical keyboard hooked up to it usually so I only notice this when I travel, but the layout of the keys takes s...

Bar None

Demetrios G., Newegg
7 February 2012
  • Summary: Overall great. it has been more than I have expected and then some.
  • Pros: Great contstruction, great performance. Cons listed on other MSI G-series have not been found here; such as keyboard flex...you have to really push to get that. OC function is supered although it appears to scale as needed. If you are the fence like I was for a month and half missing two deals, B...
  • Cons: I have to RMA it once for dead pixels on the screen, but this is known to happen.

Notebook ticks all the right boxes..BUT!

Jeffrey K., Newegg
30 January 2012
  • Summary: The first unit I got had some display issues that necessitated an RMA. Check over your unit thoroughly and run the internal windows 'display calibration' to see the panel under all conditions and ensure it functions properly. NewEgg was great about doing an advance exchange.
  • Pros: (For a notebook) Smokin' fast graphics, tons of RAM, AWESOME non-TN matte/non-glare LCD display that's hellaciously bright and vibrant, best sound ever from a notebook soundsystem, two 500GB HDDs in RAID 0 lessens the pain of not having SSDs, price is definitely right, it's not obnoxiously large/...
  • Cons: My pet peeve: MSI, you put a freaking 1x1 single-band WiFi NIC in this thing!?!?! It's an Intel Centrino-130. Are you KIDDING ME!? The WiFi adapter in this SUCKS. Ok, that's not entirely fair. It works. It's adequate. Range is good. But I have a 110Mbps cable connection that actually DOES 90-100M...
