Summary: This is without a doubt, the best laptop I've ever owned. After several weeks of continous search and reading literally hundreds of reviews, I found out that this is EXACTLY what I'm looking for. I got it from an excellent MSI re-certified seller called Tegra Tech, for 1899$. Been using this monster for a couple of weeks now and I didn't have a single issue. Windows 8.1 is very fluid and helpful if you optimize its features properly.
Summary: Being an Alienware fan, I was a little nervous about purchasing this computer for my son. My wife has an Alienware M18X that she uses, and my daughter has an Alienware M17XR4 that she loves. So when my son became old enough to join us for online gaming I wanted to get the most bang for my buck. Ladies, and gents. I am happy to say that I am not disappointed. Although the screen size could be a little bigger for my taste. It is perfect for him.
Summary: THEY SENT ME A 423 not a 424! In my excitement I registered it and everything and set it up the way I wanted it. The only difference between the two is 423 has 12GB and 424 has a 8 Gb Ram The website says that 423 has a mSata interface which is NOT TRUE! I confirmed it from MSI. The website has a "Miss Print" according to MSI support.
Summary: I use the computer for computational biology, and it is absolutely amazing. I added a 240gb SDD and another 8gb or ram. I had issues with it shipping in time, as my old computer's motherboard went and I cannot work without my computer. I called the company and I got a slightly different version, but it shipped overnight and they were very useful. I also thought that I would hate windows 8, but you can use it like windows 7 for the most part in desktop mode.
Absolutely outstanding. Just what I was looking for.

Summary: I wanted a powerful computer that could run any game smoothly on high graphics settings. This laptop does not disappoint. Pros: -Amazing graphics -Powerful hardware, no need to upgrade -Never slows down -Great customer service Cons: -Fan gets pretty loud, left side gets hot -Battery lasts max 5 hours at high performance settings -Resolution changes every time I unplug it or hook it up to my TV with HDMI. Changing it back and forth can get frustrating.
Summary: a clear & significant difference in my user experience of my computing environment using windows 8.1. Only 2nd thoughts (not in the machine performance or quality but in my choice of configuration) would be a large as SDD as possible for C: and 32GB instead of 16GB, although 16 is totally sufficient for my current needs. Also availability of a next day onsite support/warranty plan ala Dell, instead of shuffling around parcels if the need arises, would make it perfect.
Summary: It took me some time to get used to it, but now I love it. The only problem I have is the position of the delete button. It's not on the edge of the keyboard but the third from right. Otherwise all ok.
