Cons: Space bar is odd. Sometimes, it does not seem to work almost like you are not pressing it hard enough. CD drive doesn't always work and seems a bit flimsy and “delicate” for such a beast of a system. System full of bloatware (thx Microsoft…). Additional memory slots not easy to manipulate.
Summary: So just ordered this pc the other day and I won't bother listing off hardware and all the other base info since that has already been mentioned and discussed. But I would like to state that since I have received the laptop everything works well and I can play every game I have with smooth frame rates, in fact only issue I have when using the laptop is the windows 8 os which is a bit clunky.
Summary: It's definitely on the heavy side. I wish the backlit keyboard didn't have to be on all the time when on. Instead, or at least you should have the option of allowing it to dim after 20 seconds or so. Also there are 2 drives a C and a D, the C drive is small and the D drive is large.
Summary: After hours of troubleshooting and talking to the ridiculous MSI tech support, I ended up solving the problem myself. Taking the HDMI cable off of the dock and plugging it directly into the back of the laptop allowed me to get proper fps and the smooth graphics I was wanting. Now this created a new problem for me that I'm currently dealing with.
Pros: I have been gaming for years, mainly FPS and RPG when it comes to PC. Coming from a HP with the first generation i7, this is the best gaming laptop I've ever owned. Compared to it's many competitors such as Alienware, you're getting a huge bang for your buck! The SSD along with the GTX 780M and i7 make this laptop bring out textures I never knew existed in my current games. I was worried that I would get an abomination considering some of the negative reviews about fa...
Cons: I had a few headaches when it came to using laptop with external monitors and my Toshiba Dynadock 3.0 that I purchased specifically for this computer. When I was playing World of Tanks with my Asus VG248 plugged into the dock via HDMI and graphics set to max, I could not achieve the graphics and fps I was expecting out of the 780M. For some reason with games that ran on Steam such as Black Ops 2, I was getting 60 fps and smooth graphics with max settings which puzzled...
MSI G Series GT60 2OC-024US 15.6-Inch Laptop (Black)
9 September 2013
Summary: I bought this laptop to replace an old Toshiba. I do not game much but I bought this laptop for photo editing. When using Adobe Light Room or CS5 to edit photos my other laptop would take 10 sec to load each image. This one is lightning fast and can keep up with the pace of editing hundreds of photos in a short period of time. I use the SS drive to load my programs and the HD to load my files. I have played a couple of games on it and it keeps up fine.
Summary: For what this was (an Amazon Warehouse deal) it served me very well in the time that I owned it. This notebook is very, very powerful running virtually any modern PC game at stunning details. However, most games have been and remain to be developed for Windows 7, dooming Windows 8 notebooks from the start. Moreover, the lack of driver support on Windows 7 equates to a very poor, broken gaming experience on Windows 8 notebooks.
