User Review

Mary b., Newegg
4 January 2012
  • Pros: screamer and I snagged the extra 100 rebate which was nice.
  • Cons: mailing in anything is pretty annoying, especially mailing in a rebate to a computer company. If you want to give people a rebate, dont make it a chore please, thank, etc.

Correction to my previous review

Cameron M., Newegg
25 December 2011
  • Summary: Just a quick update to my previous review. I incorrectly stated that there was no media card slot. There is a standard SD-MMC slot located forward from the trackpad. Also, since I've purchased this computer, the MSI site has updated with a couple of changes to the GE620DX which include the options...
  • Pros: Same as before - though I'd like to add that the minimalist design and overall form of the notebook is a huge plus for myself. I've always been put off by the bright lights and colors of the other gaming laptops. This machine is a sleeper - subtle looks, but some respectable horsepower under the ...
  • Cons: The heat is still an issue. Without the laptop cooler, I would seriously have problems running some of the graphic settings that I use. Also, I have noticed some flex and creaks due to the heavy use of plastics in the construction.

Solid Buy. Recommended.

Cameron M., Newegg
22 December 2011
  • Summary: This is my first purchase of a laptop from NewEgg. They shipped it very quick and I received it within a day of placing my order. After unpacking, setting it up, removing bloatware, and installing my game library, I decided to stretch the legs with some of the newer titles that I recently purchased.
  • Pros: Great price that fits within many budgets. Buy with confidence from NewEgg. Fast shipping and great service. i7 2.00 GHz Processor paired with the 555M w/ 2GB of VRAM is nothing to scoff at. Decent build quality without the flamboyant trimmings that most gaming laptops are butchered with (lights,...
  • Cons: Strange partitioning of the main (only) hard drive. I noticed this before loading the bulk of my media onto the machine. Some people may prefer a separate partition for media/games - but I'd much rather have one main segment per physical drive. There's a small recovery partition which is normal a...

Solid laptop

Casey F., Newegg
23 November 2011
  • Summary: Several reviews claim that you need to use the "S-Bar" software to eject the optical drive. This is not true - you can easily eject using built-in OS functions. In Windows, simply open My Computer or equivalent, right click on the icon for the optical drive, and select "Eject.
  • Pros: * The build quality is acceptable. The unit feels solid without being bulky or overly heavy. * System is snappy and responsive. * Screen resolution is nice, with no dead pixels on mine. Games and movies look good and play smoothly. Specifically, TF2 runs perfectly with all the graphics settings o...
  • Cons: * The touchpad is surprisingly bad for a laptop at this price point. This is not the industry standard touchpad hardware that you may have used on any decent laptop; it's a cheaper model that is less effective. However, sadly, I have used worse. * Screen color is okay but not great. I put the lap...

Recommended Gaming Laptop

Eileen C., Newegg
9 October 2011
  • Summary: The optical drive doesn't have an external button which opens your drive. I have to go to my computer and right click on the drive and then eject. Bad cooling: My laptop overheated and crashed when I played cs source on 1920 x 1080 resolution at max video settings.
  • Pros: 1920*1080 max resolution for a 15.6 inch i7 sandy bridge Geforce GT 555M Good quality and loud Speakers 720p HD webcam 2 Years Warranty
  • Cons: Poor touchpad 3 USB ports and the 2 USB port 3.0 are side by side (very close together) 5400 RPM. Price. It could have been $950 instead of $1.1. I used the laptop for a month now. The laptop was not responding to anything. Then I had to unplug the power cable, remove the battery using a coin and...

Good laptop so far!

Lucas S., Newegg
26 September 2011
  • Summary: So far I'm happy with this purchase (I got it less than a week ago). I'll update this review in some months to give a better review. I rated it 4 eggs because of the fan noise and the heat. Also, very fast shiping with Purolator (ordered Saturday, Purolator was at my door Tuesday)!
  • Pros: - Full HD screen - Numeric keypad - Specs for the price - Sound quality is not bad
  • Cons: - The noise of the fan is a annoying but not unbearable - When gaming, the notebook's surface becomes very hot - Touchpad is not great

lightest of its class

Sybor W., Newegg
23 September 2011
  • Summary: For the specs this laptop offers (in particular GT 555M, i7 2630QM, 15.6" screen size or less, at least 1600 x 900 resolution), it is the lightest one in the market at the moment (5.28 lbs).
  • Pros: high performance good quality sound good graphics card lighter than most of laptops of the same specs could be used in a professional setting
  • Cons: keyboard ergonomics slow harddrive

Solid laptop.

Diane H., Newegg
22 August 2011
  • Summary: This laptop has it's flaws but all in all it can't be beat in price per performance. The graphics card has plenty of power to push modern games at 1600x900 res. with ease. The full HD screen Is definitely a selling point and it is very good looking.
  • Pros: AWESOME SPECS. Price for performance ratio is about as good as you can get. The screen is beautiful. The keyboard has good feedback and the keys are a good size with a decent amount of space between them. GT555m+i7+8gb ram=solid gaming performance.
  • Cons: TEMPS. After having this laptop for a day I have found that you cannot game in gaming mode. Temps average in the 90's when playing demanding games such as Bad company 2 and DiRT3. IF you use office mode, performance will take only a slight hit and temps will stay below 80. The right shift key is ...

Fantastic Computer!

Dustin D., Newegg
21 August 2011
  • Summary: No packaging slip telling me what I paid for this computer... I'm very disappointed in it, that doesn't directly relate to the computer, that may be NewEgg or UPS's fault. But I needed it really bad and still do for legal reasons.
  • Pros: You're getting what you pay for, but something the specs don't tell a common user is that your RAM is going to be context-sensitive. What does that mean? You have 2GB of Video Ram... It's not dedicated (...always...). It can go up to 2GB of Video but it is just computer RAM when you're not needin...
  • Cons: The screen is a little small. I converted to this computer from a 17.3". 15.6" is definitely not the option for a full 1080p computer running at that resolution. The mousepad seems to get in the way a lot due to the area of where your thumb joints with your hand. If it touches it, it will change ...
