Great Laptop

Steve H., Newegg
14 August 2012
  • Pros: I have been using this laptop for almost a year with no problems. Its fast and has a nice bright screen.
  • Cons: there is already two disk partitions, the touch pad is a bit rough and in order for the keyboard quick keys to work you need to have the MSI toolbar installed which is annoying.

MSI FX620DX

Jong L., Newegg
9 November 2011
  • Summary: This laptop does everything that I needed it to do when I bought it. Gaming, school work, general usage... it's great for all uses. I've never had any BSODs or freezes with this laptop within my 2 months of use. The USB 2.0 slot is upside down but no biggie.
  • Pros: I bought this laptop mainly for gaming and i'm glad I made the purchase. You won't get the best graphics but you won't get the worst either. I could decently play Starcraft 2 on High graphics in team games. CPU is great and is sufficient for your everyday and gaming needs. The Nvidia 540M will pl...
  • Cons: The laptop comes with some bloatware. It takes time to remove them but it's not as bad as i've seen in my previous laptops. The MSI 'S-Bar' utility sucks hardcore. You can close the program and uninstall it but it's needed to use the media keys including ejecting your DVD drive. 5400 rpm HDD. Get...

Really good Laptop

Josue C., Newegg
21 September 2011
  • Summary: Many people are complaining about BSOD, the first thing I did was to format the c drive and install Windows 7 Ultimate, then I download the latest drivers from msi.com and the nvidia driver from nvidia.com , and I haven't had a single BSOD!!!
  • Pros: I bought this laptop for use in college and for some occasional gaming. Have been using it for two weeks and these are my toughs. -Professional look and it wont get any fingerprints -Full keyboard -4 speakers with THX sound!!! -Reasonable battery life -Good price -2 3.0 USB ports
  • Cons: -Poor angle view (looks really dark when viewing from an angle) -The keyboard doesn't have light -Annoying S-Bar, having a cute star at the top of your screen is a no go!!!!!!!!!!!!! -No eject button on the DVD drive

This is my first laptop and so far I'm very Satisfied

Anonymous, Newegg
14 September 2011
  • Summary: - Some things you have to manually turn on right when you get the laptop. I had to manually turn on wireless, mic, and web cam through the s-bar right when I got it. After that it turns on automatically.
  • Pros: - Amazing specs for the price. I bought it mainly for college and gaming. So far its been great for both. - Has a very professional look and it's very good at keeping fingerprint smudges off - Comes with 4 speakers (two above the keyboard and two in the front edge), which is above average compare...
  • Cons: - It comes with this "s-bar" program which is pretty annoying. It takes up pretty much the whole top of the screen and you need it on to use the physical buttons on top of the keyboard. - It comes with some bloatware, but it's very easy to uninstall or you can just do a clean install of windows 7...

Fantastic Computer - Buy It!

James R., Newegg
1 August 2011
  • Summary: -Some people complain about the nVidia optimus but I think it's very nice. It will automatically use the onboard intel graphics, but if you want a particular program to use the nVidia card, you just open the nVidia control panel the first time you run the program, select the program, and select the...
  • Pros: -2nd generation i5 -6gb ram -640gb hdd -nVidia GPU -Solid case and keyboard -2xUSB 3.0 -Good sound quality from 4 speakers instead of usual 2 on laptops -Minimal plastic edge around the screen (No wasted space) -MSi

An excellent midrange laptop

Patrick O., Newegg
10 July 2011
  • Summary: - I was impressed with how cool the laptop stayed during heavy gameplay. The cooling fan does a great job, and it was certainly pumping out a lot of heat. - The texturized plastic on the lid and palmrests work pretty well at keeping fingerprints off.
  • Pros: - Light weight: my previous laptop was a Lenovo Ideapad Y530 which was built like a tank and weighed like one, too. This laptop is a featherweight by comparison. - Very capable specs: 6Gb of RAM, 2nd-Generation i5 CPU and the Nvidia 540M makes this laptop extremely fast for day-to-day tasks (a ni...
  • Cons: - GPU fan can get a bit loud during heavy gameplay, although this is to be expected. -MSI bloatware: about on par with what came with my Lenovo Y530. Nothing major, but it took about 30-45 minutes to uninstall the junk. - The MSI S-Bar: I don't really know what they were thinking by not having a ...

Best bang for your buck

Anonymous, Newegg
5 July 2011
  • Summary: My only other thought is that if you are more of a gamer this is for you. If you don't game you could definitely find something for cheaper to fit what you do. But this computer works well for anyone so don't hesitate if you are looking for something that runs great and doesn't need...
  • Pros: -Fast -Lightweight -Great Graphics -Easy to use -Good Sound -Big Screen This computer is just an all around great machine! For gamers and everyone else. It's fast and is very easy to get used to. I recommend this a 100x over because of the cheap price and great specs!
  • Cons: The only con I have is that I didn't purchase this equipment sooner.

Great Deal

Daniel F., Newegg
29 June 2011
  • Summary: The textured trackpad is odd. I am not sure I like it, but it is functional. The standard USB port is mounted upside down. Out of the box, it only runs at 800MHz on battery power, and then jumps to advertised speed when plugged in. Good for battery life. Generally good build quality!
  • Pros: GPU, CPU, Weight, RAM, HDMI, USB3
  • Cons: Comes with MSI Software all over the place. While another reviewer mentioned not being able to use the F keys, it's only the MSI features on the F keys, accessed by the Fn key. You do lose the hardware keys at the top of the keyboard, but you can still eject the optical tray through a menu eject.

Unbeatable for price.

Stephen B., Newegg
28 June 2011
  • Summary: Overall great buy, it runs most games I play on medium settings very well and smoothly! (bfbc2, tf2, games of that nature.) I give it 4 and a half eggs because of the cons. But buy it, for the price no laptop can compete!
  • Pros: It has Intel i5 sandy bridge. Ded. nvidia Gt540m. 6GB ram. Hd webcam. Nice screen res. This laptop is a great bargain, so far I have not seen a laptop in this price range that can stand up or run with this. Minimal ad/ junkware. Boots in under 45 seconds. Everything worked perfect out of the box....
  • Cons: I hate the "S-bar" you have to have it activated to use alot of the key functions like volume control, disk eject (no eject button on the drive, it is on the bar with power etc.) That is pretty much it. Oh and the no light indicator whether the num lock or caps lock is engaged. Also I got the one...

William B., Newegg
25 June 2011
  • Summary: I can't think of anything else that would trump this in value.
  • Pros: 6GB RAM 640GB Hard Drive i5 Sandybridge CPU 540M video card. USB 3.0 AWESOME sound for integrated speakers It plays, runs and has room for everything at a very low cost of $750 when I bought it. It's now $800
  • Cons: Keyboard is absolutely horrible layout. 5400RPM drive
