Pretty Good

Roger O., Newegg
17 March 2012
  • Summary: This computer is definetly worth the price. There aren't many laptops for this price that have a dedicated graphics card. It runs games fairly smoothly. I've played Just Cause 2, Sid Meiers Civivlization 5, Borderlands, and a few others.
  • Pros: Pretty good specs. Nothing overly special, nice dedicated graphics card, definetly worth the price. The Intel Core i5 and 6 gigabytes of ram work well with the set up. The texture is nice, not to pronounced. The touchpad is ok. The HDMI port is nice too. Can run quite few good game fairly well. (...
  • Cons: Although a very nice computer, there are a few cons. The button set next to the power button is a bit childish looking, and they aren't very useful. 2/3 of them require a program already open. One of them is to open the disc drive, which is ridiculous because there is also a button on the side fo...

Broken

  • Summary: This laptop was selling for $750 around. 2/15/2012 Now you can get the same laptop for around $150 dollars less. I went a head and bought a nice desktop instead from another store.
  • Pros: The specs of the computer look great for it's price range. Little to no bloat ware and lots of usb port that I would need. Awesome.
  • Cons: Web cam and wireless didn't work. I sent it back to New EGG for a replacement RMA which was suppose to be resolved in 5-10 business days. Instead I was sent in a bit of circles and it drag on for three weeks. With no working properly computer/work station for my graphic design gig, I lost out on ...

Great price for a good laptop

Christine H., Newegg

  • Summary: Can't comment on the battery life yet. Overall, this is a very nice little machine.
  • Pros: Sweet price for i5 + dedicated graphics card + 6 gigs of ram. Size is good. Key board is a little tight for big hands, but fits mine just right. Textured cover and wrist rest is a nice touch. Very little bloatware. Lots of different ports. The rubber cap on the traditional phone line modem is coo...
  • Cons: The power brick is enormous. What is this, 2002?! The screen is just ok. Not bad, but not great. Looks sharp, but the viewing angles are kind of poor. The quick launch buttons past the top of the keyboard are not that useful and look childish.

Very Nice

  • Summary: I have yet to really test the gaming ability of this machine. I'm gonna see how Portal 2 runs on it and update this. Never had bought an MSI computer before but this appears to be high quality. I'd like to see Microsoft bundle their Office Suite with all versions of Windows.
  • Pros: This machine is very sleek and fast at a great price. (I got it for 750) USB 3.0 makes transferring and backing up files a short occasion. The display is beautiful and the multitasking ability of the Intel i5 processor blows my other notebooks away. Seems to stay cool even when used on a soft sur...
  • Cons: The grease prints that everyone else has mentioned. No backlit keyboard or bluetooth.

First MSi Experiance

William F., Newegg
16 July 2011
  • Summary: This problem is completely frustrating because it makes my need for accurate pointer control in modeling applications entirely unusable. The only way to get around this problem is to use the low power intel integrated graphics which is pointlessly under powered.
  • Pros: -Size -Keyboard Feels Solid -THX Sound is clear When I first bought this laptop I wanted a smaller form factor laptop to complement my higher powered desktop for gaming on the go and 3d modeling applications such as 3ds Max and Mudbox.
  • Cons: -MSi Driver support is terrible -Graphics driver has many, many issues when switched to High Power mode Upon arrival I liked the size and feel of the laptop in general, but the drivers and bloat ware were trash right from the first boot. When I go to play games, watch Netflix or use my 3d modelin...

very decent

  • Summary: i haven't really tested the usb. 3.0 speeds yet. there is a big sticker on the left palmrest. it describes the notebook's features and is generally ugly. the trackpad is not as responsive as i would like. i usually plug in a mouse, but this has been annoying on fights when i rely on the trackpad.
  • Pros: i am a student and gamer and this is my first laptop. i need something for travel (2 hours plus unplugged when taking notes or doing group projects for school)l. i wanted usb 3.0 as the mobo on my desktop has this 3.0 and i anticipate a lot of devices going to 3.0 soon. also, i wanted something t...
  • Cons: i know the video card is not designed for gaming, but i play older games and am happy low settings. however, this machine is a little more glitchy than i would expect. for example, it won't play fallout 3, and i have had trouble with other, less demanding games. some programs have troubles displa...

Mostly Excellent

  • Summary: I picked this out for my girlfriend and wish I had the money for one myself. For the price I'm skeptical that there's anything better out there, with the exception of the FX420 featuring the i5.
  • Pros: This laptop is excellent for the price. It's very quick and the dedicated card holds up to games. World of Warcraft runs without a hitch on medium settings, Counter Strike: Source sees 0 hiccups, unfortunately I haven't had a chance to test more demanding games. The switchable graphics for high p...
  • Cons: This comes bundled with "S-Bar" a dock-type bar that sits at the top of your screen for easily toggling the webcam, blue tooth, etc. Unfortunately it is not customizable at all or at least not in a friendly and convenient way. Leaving a rather large and unsightly block going across your screen, w...

Good Laptop

Phillip J., Newegg
23 May 2011
  • Summary: I wanted to replace my desktop with a laptop without spending a ton of money. This is my first laptop (other than a netbook, which doesn't count). I wanted to be able to have all the power/specs I desired while not having a huge, bulky laptop to have to carry around.
  • Pros: Price was great for the specs: 6GB, 2nd Gen i5, decent graphics, usb 3.0, etc. Size is perfect for travel, while maintaining good performance and decent screen size. I have streamed movies to the TV while surfing the internet, and downloading media with no problem.
  • Cons: *As others said, no bluetooth. *While not a fingerprint magnet, this thing will hold on to a little oil from the skin/hands. No big deal to me. It goes away. *Dumb hard drive partitioning. I had a tough time shrinking C: and expanding the data partition, but finally got C down to what I wanted, a...
