Summary: The first thing I did when turn on this little beast was install Skyrim, and wow ultra high definition was automatically set on, today I installed hitman absolution... Same story, I'm pretty happy with my purchase, recommend, don't think...
Summary: I would love to know more about how the disk is partitioned and what each partition contains and if there are any partitions that can be removed.
Pros: I haven't found any negatives to report. If you look at the specs on this machine, you know it has everything. The memory is upgradeable to 16GB, but I don't see a need for that. The operating system is upgradeable to Windows 8.1 for free. I have done that. The tech support is excellent.
Cons: I would have preferred Windows 7. I am living with Windows 8.1. If you look for this specific model on the MSI website, it isn't there. This is listed under CX61 ONF. The 686MX has to do with the specific system configuration and you won't find out what that means on the MSI website.
Pros: On board nvidia, decent speed. Weight is a good combination of size/power to heft. Not too heavy and not small at all. Good battery life for power and size. On full charge one year later using High Performance this little guy lasters over 3 hours.
Cons: As petty as it sounds I wish the home and end keys weren't function keys to PgUp and PgDn. I use those keys a lot when programming.
Summary: Depite the flaws, a laptop with 6GB RAM and 2GB Video RAM with a dedicated GPU under $1000 is a fantastic deal. I will buy my next laptop from MSI again!
Pros: A great graphics card, plenty of RAM, and tons of power packed into this thing. The pho-alumnimum finish looks nice and the USB 3.0 is a big plus. HDMI and VGA means you can run three monitors off this thing no problem. Gaming is a joy on this. Minecraft on full graphics, Portal 2 on high, and plenty of hard drive space for it all. Expandability is also present here, as you can easily upgrade the RAM and HDD, but more on that in the cons (see below).
Cons: Opening the bottom panel to upgrade the RAM or HDD voids your 1-year warranty with MSI, and this is a issue with the hard drive. It's a Hitachi 5400RPM SATA drive, which means it's SLOW. Really SLOW. It doesn't help the performance of the laptop at all. When booting up it really bogs down and chugs until it's done with the initial loading process.
Summary: Overall awesome just wish I had a little more cash to get the laptop with same and all but with 17in monitor.
Pros: Awesome cpu (core i5 4200m) and nice discreet NVidia gt720m with 2 gb ram. win 8 64bit. Awesome laptop for the money.
Cons: No ssd hard drive or hybrid drive, 15.6 screen (1366 x 768). All other laptops with nice upgrade to 17' (1920 x 1080) cost way to much. The 2gb Nvidia gt720m toasted the first time I played a game. New egg rma replaced it with no hassles.
