Summary: I tried to use windows 8 for about a week, but this is not a touchscreen so I switched to windows 7. Unfortunately windows 7 didn't install any drivers automatically. not even Wifi or Ethernet drivers and I had to use Linux to get them, wasn't too bad but still a pain.
Pros: -i5 is a beast
Cons: -Not 1080 resolution, which is strange in this price range
Summary: Overall id say if you can get it for 600ish this is an amazing deal price/performance wise. I jumped the gun and bought this without waiting for black friday deals because i dont think I could have gotten a much better deal (and i wanted a beefy machine soon).
Pros: Got it for 600 on neweggflash. Top line 3rd gen mobile processor is pretty impressive. I did a lot of research but I was still very surprised by just how good the older GT645 video card was. As mentioned in other reviews it handles mid-high req games pretty well. When video card is crunching the fans to get pretty lively but that fine because the machine stays pretty cool even under heavy workloads. Comes with an MSI supercharger usb port/software and also a useful ba...
Cons: The construction around the display and keyboard does feel cheap. the plastic cover on the monitor feels like it could chip or break easily. The same material is also used around the keyboard and i could see it cracking easily if you dropped the machine. If you are a sensible user though you wont have any problems. The lower chassis feels pretty sturdy.
Summary: This is an older model graphics card, but it can run many moderately intensive games on max (LoL and CS:GO). If this model weren't on sale for $600 I would think twice about buying it, but it was a great deal for me. The specs are good nonetheless.
Pros: -I got this computer at $600 when it was on sale
Cons: - The fans are always loud when running the graphics card.
Summary: I haven't seen any reviews for this particular model so I figured I'd write one so nobody feels like they're playing laptop roulette on this purchase. I've had this laptop for about a week and so far it has exceeded all of my expectations. This computer is perfect for solid gaming, so far I've have played Bioshock Infinite, Sleeping Dogs, TF2, and Deus Ex HR all on Medium - High settings with almost all graphics features turned on and it runs like a charm.
Summary: First of all, take everything I say with a grain of salt. I did benchmark a lot of CPUs and GPUs and compare prices thereof before I bought this machine, but I'm no computer expert.
Pros: -Will run just about every program the average PC user will use, all at the same time, with little fuss (Running Portal, League of Legends, multiple tabs Google Chrome, and iTunes while writing this. Task Manager says CPU is at 21%).
Cons: -HDD speed isn't as fast as it could be. It seems to be the piece of hardware that gets it the hardest when I try to test out how taxing I can be with the system.
Summary: I bought this computer for video gaming while traveling. This has been a great investment. The GPU on this puppy is really powerful and it runs League of Legends, Runes of Magic, and Path of Exile very, very smoothly for me. I experience at least 30 FPS at the worst in big cities on Runes of Magic (which is really, really good), with an average of 60 FPS anywhere else.
Pros: - The NVIDIA GeForce GT 645M graphics card is superb for gaming.
Cons: - This laptop has a tendency to try to optimize itself during the time of boot, especially after windows updates. This is a real pain because you can spend 10 or more minutes trying to get to your desktop if you are a regular, non-tech savvy end user. It seems to be a never ending freeze that occurs when you start this laptop. It will eventually get to the desktop. This is partly due to the new poor implementation of the EFI replacement over BIOS.
Summary: So this was a nice step ahead for me, finally a decent laptop that can handle most games I would want to play. Then I get it and find out just what so many others were complaining about. Windows 8 is amazingly awful. So far that is the main issue with this model. Mine also has a slightly loose dvd drive. Nothing I am too concerned with though. Once I get 8 off I doubt I will have a single complaint.
Pros: Runs smooth, could use a ram upgrade, runs SC2on ultra smoothly, lags sometimes but not a big deal, runs Diablo 3,WOW on ultra smoothly, also get 30-35fps on Tf2 and Cs go and Cs source, for the money it is worth it, i can play all my games decently so its worth the money for sure
Cons: windows 8! o.m.g i dont know where to start, get rid of it asap, i just took my old HDD and put it in this new MSI cause i couldnt even figure out how to get win 7 on the 750gig HDD that came with this thing, have to change the partition to ntfs and its a pain in the b.u.t.t, anyways, good bang for the money, works well
