Summary: Perfect. Replaced both my Thinkpad Edge 14" and Asus Eee 10" with this laptop. Exactly the right size, and with the i7, no shortage of processing power. Carry it everywhere in Boston, and use it daily. Runs Ubuntu Linux perfectly, minus support for the fingerprint reader and is perfect for everything I need to do. Couldn't ask for a better laptop.
Pros: Comfortable Keyboard, Fast, Lightweight, Long Battery Life, Powerful
Summary: I was looking for a step up from my eeePC 1000HE, and got it. This X201S is very fast and the display is great. It is also strikingly light and stiff/solid. I've handed it to a couple of friends, and they over-compensate when grabbing it, because they're expecting a 6 or 7 pound machine. Surprisingly, the only place that gets hot from the Core i7 is the fan vent in the back left corner. The rest of the case remains fairly cool.
Summary: I've had a number of laptops over the years and this one and my 2-yr. old Lenovo Ideapad U110 are my favorites - in appearance, utility, and portability. This is an extremely well-made machine.
Summary: I'm a writer and I do lots of photo editing and processing with huge RAW files (such as 24MB each). The 1440x900 screen and the processing power are just great. Photo-editing is about 5x faster than my old machine, which was no slouch. Intensive tasks like unsharp mask are done almost as fast as pushing the button. The only negative is that blankety-blank Thinkpad touchpad.
Summary: I just bought this laptop and I love it. It's fast, powerful and very light weight. I travel a lot for work, so this is a wonderful product for someone like me. The only drawback is that it does not come with an internal DVD/CD-ROM drive. I solved this issue by buying a Targus DVD/CD-ROM external drive for less than $50. It works great but it means carrying one more accessory when I travel.
