Not a good buy

Nish, Newegg
  • Summary: I would recommend that any refurbished product with a short warranty and a lack of long term owner reviews like this one be avoided. I blindly put my faith in the fact that newegg has never let me down. First time for everything I guess.
  • Pros: Cheap price and on paper, has good specs
  • Cons: Unreliable. Any model that is refurbished and comes with only a 30 day warranty should be avoided. This computer started falling apart within a couple of months of buying it. The keyboard randomly stopped working at times, some keys stop working forever and the panels under the keyboard are worn out. My model had/has a permanently depressed 'i' key and there was nothing I could do about it.

  • Summary: Compact, powererful and great for travel. Compared to other laptops, this is a superior product. Keyboard ergonomics are outstanding. Trackball is much easier to use than touchpads.

Outstanding Value

e, Newegg
30 May 2014
  • Summary: Bought for my sister, and had decided in advance that I would install WinPro and an SSD drive - - but it was fine right out of the box - and even better now - boots in under 30 sec, running Office 2010, etc...
  • Pros: compact size, powerful features, Thinkpad quality - best of all worlds!
  • Cons: - I cannot get the little keyboard light to work - but I had reinstalled my own Win7 64bit pro instead of what came with the unit (home premium), so that might be my fault - and does not impact the usability

AMAZING COMPUTER

Joe, Newegg
10 April 2014
  • Pros: Fast! First generation i5, doesn't have intel HD graphics, which wasn't something I generally needed. I added SSD, so boot time (on a unix distro) is about 7-9 seconds with splash screen. Got it for an amazing price.
  • Cons: Still has telephone modem and I wish it had HDMI (but too be expected for the year of the computer)

great bang for the buck

22 March 2014
  • Summary: Was looking for a very portable but inexpensive laptop and this fills the bill. Swapped the hard drive for one of the new hybrid Seagate drives and this little bugger is pretty sweet. This one has the camera and light but no backlight for the keyboard. Looks like brand new.
  • Pros: 7200RPM hard drive, very portable, like new condition
  • Cons: Small screen size, small hard drive

shaken my confidence in newegg

N/A, Newegg
22 February 2014
  • Summary: The first unit I received was a glorified paperweight and was sent back for replacement. Newegg refunded return shipping but only after I called, this should be automatic on RMAs. The processor is 2.00Ghz not 2.13 as advertised. Also conspicuously absent is the DVD RW that was promised though it came with burning software pre-installed as well as CDs for Windows.
  • Pros: Digitizer touchscreen works great with MS Onenote for taking notes in class. Adequate performance.
  • Cons: Not as advertised, smell, refurbished items are sometimes well past their useful life.

  • Pros: Tablet functionality was nice.
  • Cons: The processing on this machine was not much better than a Core2 T5200.
