Expert Review

19 November 2011
  • Conclusion: The Lenovo ThinkPad X121e is a great all-round package, and should be at the top of the list for anyone looking for an ultraportable and affordable laptop. It's well-made, looks good and performs capably, and backs this up with great usability.
  • Pros: The Lenovo ThinkPad X121e is a tiny ultraportable laptop. With an 11.6-inch screen, it's small enough to take with you wherever you go, yet the screen is also large enough to work on for long periods of time. With a 1366 x 768 pixel resolution, there's plenty of space for browsing websites, without having to scroll from side to side. You'll be able to choose from a couple of different processing options, including an AMD chip if you're on a tight budget, or an Intel C...
  • Cons: It really is difficult to pick fault with the Lenovo ThinkPad X121e. At worst, the touchpad could be slightly easier to use, with the integrated buttons proving a bit fiddly.

Review Lenovo ThinkPad X121e NWS5QGE Subnotebook

Notebookcheck
5 September 2011
  • Summary: Big name, small money? Lenovo's X-series has always stood for a high measure of mobility and quality. The latest entry level model ThinkPad X121e is supposed to combine existing values with a reasonable price. We have tested extensively what works in this fusion and what was left behind.
  • Pros: fast hard drive, comparably good system performance, easy access to components, good upgradeability, very long battery runtimes, good mobile properties, very good price/performance ratio, good VGA signal quality, matte display with good brightness, the notebook case remains cool, Very good price/performance ratio, matte display, sufficient processing power, very good upgrade options
  • Cons: display flexes in some areas, keyboard layout takes some getting used to, USB ports on the right spaced far from each other, below average touchpad, relatively loud with little load, display has weak contrast and low viewing angles, A display with better contrast and viewing angles, less noise with minor use.

Lenovo X121e-204562U Laptop Review

Notebookcheck
11 August 2011
  • Summary: Budget notebook made better. The ThinkPad X120e with its AMD Fusion core marked a significant improvement over the 2010 X100e, but does the Sandy Bridge-equipped X121e bring enough to the table to supplant the award-winning X120e?
  • Pros: Gute Verarbeitung und verbessertes Design, Gute CPU Leistung, Lange Akkulaufzeit, Heller, matter Bildschirm, The impressive CPU performance offered by the 11.6-inch notebook is one of the more powerful processors offered in a sub 12-inch notebook while maintaining great battery life.
  • Cons: Hohe Temperaturen, Lautes Lüftergeräusch, Pfeiltasten immer noch dicht gedrängt, The cool temperature levels and quiet performance of the X120e were both sacrificed in favor of a stronger processor. The front LEDs have also been removed in the new redesign.

Test-Update Lenovo ThinkPad X121e (AMD E-300) Notebook

Notebookcheck
2 July 2012
Antennen
  • Cons: stellenweise biegsames Gehäuse, Tastaturlayout gewöhnungsbedürftig, weit auseinander liegende USB Ports rechts, unterdurchschnittliches Touchpad, relativ hohe Geräuschentwicklung bei wenig Last, kontrastschwaches Display mit geringer Blickwinkelstabilität und Helligkeit
