Review Lenovo ThinkPad Twist Convertible Ultrabook

Notebookcheck
12 December 2012
  • Summary: Windows 8 with a twist. Lenovo’s unique ThinkPad Twist adopts the x-series’ design of a swivel-mounted screen alongside all the obligatory ThinkPad traits. But can it fulfill its intended role as a practical next-gen alternative to a conventional business notebook?
  • Pros: Great keyboard, Inexpensive IPS display, Impressive touch responsiveness, Good CPU performance, Above-average ports selection, The ThinkPad Twist’s multitouch display is perfectly responsive, and paired with the comfortable keyboard, it makes a strong case for convertible practicality. Meanwhile, above-average build quality and an attractive price point are also appreciated.
  • Cons: Weak battery life, Disappointing GPU performance, High-gloss display with insufficient brightness, A little larger/heavier than competing Ultrabooks, Odd manufacturing quirks, Irritating touchpad, Slow to awaken from sleep, With a display this glossy, better brightness is a must. Our measurements fall far short of Lenovo’s quoted values. Also, the weak battery life hardly suffices in the business world.
