Summary: -- AN UPDATE: The fan noise problem is so bad that I am thinking returning it, only discouraged by the prospects of all the hassle, especially seeing that others have indicated that the seller will not take returns. At the same time, I downloaded a program called TPFanControl and installed it on this laptop. The program improved the noise quite a bit, but only to the extent that it will no longer make noise constantly, but still makes noise frequently.
Summary: Performance wise this laptop is good except it has one major flaw - its fan is always on and is too noisy. This is a known issue and Lenovo recommends a BIOS update to fix it. But it does not work. http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/Frustrated-with-FAN-noise-T430/td-p/810305 I would not recommend this product. I returned it within 2 days!
Summary: My husband bought this laptop in November 2013 for my birthday, it is now February 2014 and I have had continual problems with the laptop freezing up. When it freezes, the computer won't respond to the Ctrl+Alt+Del to safely shut it down. I've since done my own research and it appears Lenovo has been having serious issues with these laptops and is knowingly cranking out junk. Quality has been sold out for short term profits. I'm tired of buying pricey junk.
Summary: I am a loyal customer of Thinkpad T series, and very satisfied with my old T series laptops, T61 and T400. That's the reason why I decide to buy a new T430 which is a total disaster. The LCD screen of the new T430 has vertical stripes when pressing the edge. The speaker makes strange noises under mid to high volume. This is definitely my last Thinkpad laptop, and I will never recommend Thinkpad computers to my friends as I used to do. Sooooo disappointed.
Summary: This 430 series has a major design issues. First its hard disk layout. It is kept right below your left palm rest because of which it heats up a lot. Second its port layouts. They are very awkwardly placed and very difficult to get it through (especially the USB 3.0 ports). Third, Flipkart review says it has HDMI port, oh no it so does not. Check out the lenovo website to confirm. Fourthly, Fan issue.
Summary: Lenovo T430 has a problem with Fan Noise. As soon as the machine boots fan starts to roar at 3800 RPM and easily touches 4000 RPM in a min or so. Problem is that this fan never shuts down creating a permanent humming sound. Please do checkout lenovo forums and support website if they have some solution in place for this issue. The good part about this machine is the onsite service.
