Pretty good

  • Summary: You basically pay for what you get. It is a very lightweight machine, but there are trade-offs. The battery does not last very long, so far only 2.5ish hours with wi-fi on and screen brightness at a low level. It also runs a little hot, with the fan turning on frequently. If you only need something for web/email/word processing, then this should be good enough for you. If not, I would recommend going to the next step up.
  • Pros: Comfortable Keyboard, Lightweight, Quality Display
  • Cons: Short Battery Life, Too Hot

  • Summary: This is an excellent buy. The keyboard layout and feel is excellent, the screen looks great, and it's extremely portable. Runs streaming music and HD video without a problem. The only "con" I can find is that it comes with a 4-cell battery, which is good for about 3 hours of moderate use (most computers in this class come with a 6-cell battery). Nonetheless, I still prefer this notebook over any other in this price range.
  • Pros: Comfortable Keyboard, Fast, Lightweight, Powerful, Quality Display, Quiet
  • Cons: Small Battery

Nice but noisy.

  • Summary: I have a T400 that is sometimes too heavy and a Toshiba NB205 netbook that is nice but the screen and keyboard are too small. This Edge fits in between and I find I use it more than the other two. Given what it has for a processor I find it very fast. I installed 3GB RAM and an Intel 80GB SSD. Start up in 25 seconds, shutdown in 5 seconds. Application loads and webpage changes are nearly instantaneous.
  • Pros: Comfortable Keyboard, Fast, Lightweight, Long Battery Life, Quality Display

Wonderfully Lightweight, Reasonably Pric

8 March 2010
  • Summary: Purchased the Thinkpad Edge for work and I'm loving it. Was lugging around an older Thinkpad T43 (about 5.5 lbs) and couldn't take it any more. It's amazing what a difference 2 pounds makes. There's really not much out there at this price that's this lightweight, attractive and functional. The design is very spare; there's no unnecessary status lights blinking and no goofy patterns or distractions on the outer shell or inside, which I really appreciate.
  • Pros: Clean Attractive Design, Comfortable Keyboard, Fast, Lightweight, Long Battery Life, Quiet
  • Cons: Lenovo Bloatware

Great Value!

  • Summary: Great laptop for under 700 bucks! Does not feature the latest processor or boast incredible speed, however it works superb for everyday practical purposes like browsing the web and using Office software. This laptop is perfect for people looking for something more powerful and has a larger screen than a netbook, yet does not need a discrete graphics card and a quad-core processor. It fits right between the two ends of the spectrum.
  • Pros: Comfortable Keyboard, Lightweight, Long Battery Life, Quiet
  • Cons: Touchpad

  • Summary: I like that the Lenovo has Windows 7 Professional on it. It is lightweight, cool running and an LED screen. The battery life lasted as stated with the exception of playing games with strong graphics. I found that the description of this Lenovo was accurate in every respect. However, I do have fast typing skills, and the keyboard does not keep up with me. For the average typist, I don't think this would be a problem.
  • Pros: Lightweight, Long Battery Life, Quality Display, Quiet
  • Cons: Slow keyboard

Thinkpad trifft schick

ulie123, Ciao

  • Summary: Thinkpad = das Notebook für professionelle Tätigkeiten.
  • Pros: +  gute Verarbeitung,  +  keine Treiberprobleme,  +  gutes Design
  • Cons: -  ggf, stärkeren Akku beziehen,  -  Monitor zu schwach für starken Lichteinfall
