Summary: I had never owned or played with Lenovo before so I was a little wary. Especially since I was ordering this for my Grandmother who had to have XP for her sewing stuff. She also had a price limit of about $600 and min-screen size of 15.4, so this worked out very well.
Pros: Not a lot of extra junk on it from Lenovo. At least in comparison to HP or Sony. But I bought the laptop because it didn't have a lot of stuff on it software-wise. The screen looks nice and this guy comes with a bunch of extra hardware's that I wouldn't expect at this price. Webcam, DVD burner, a...
Cons: There's no latch when you close the laptop..... Unfortunately there's no Office included already, just a trial Office 2007 version, but I knew that buying it. I went and put Open Office on it. Some reviews have had issues with the wireless, but none here. I'd almost say it was a bit hyperactive a...
Summary: If you need an XP Pro machine that can be upgraded to Vista, you will be happy with this one. I searched high and low for a better deal and couldn't beat this one!
Pros: I love this laptop. I needed to replace my old laptop as it finally died after 5 years. I also needed the new machine to be preloaded with XP Pro. It is pre-loaded with XP Pro. The previous reviewer that said it was pre-loaded with Vista. He obviously did not purchase from Newegg.
Cons: Nothing really except the 90 day trial version of Symantec's Norton Internet Security. I hate anything from Symantec. Will be replacing when it expires. A 60 day trial of MS Office 2007. I would have given this baby 2 GIGs of memory instead of 1. I still give this 5 eggs as it can be upgraded to ...
Summary: If I was really paying attention I would have purchased the one with XP preloaded and Vista upgrade. Both same laptop and both same price. Double check the specs before clicking order!
Pros: Vista conversion took about 1.5 hours from start to finish but went right by the book according to the conversion guide that comes with the XP recovery disk. Laptop itself is sleek and user friendly right out of the box. This was purchased for a teacher colleague who has minimal computer savvy an...
Cons: Vista, what else. Our school was looking for an XP laptop but they are few and far between. So far no other con with the machine itself though. We're used to having ports on the back edge as opposed to either side and front edge but that may be a matter of preference.
Pros: Slick and quick. Has all I need to surf, write and calculate. Battery goes for 2+ hours on a charge. Nice wide screen. Wireless card picked up some networks in my neighborhood I hadn't seen before. And it has a 1.3 mp camera. Nice
Summary: The touch pad came disabled on arrival, do not panic. There is a button at the top right of the keyboard near the volume controls. This gives the ability to enable/disable the touch pad without having to go into the Control Panel.
Pros: Low price, XP Pro with all necessary drivers loaded for out of box functionality, Wireless Adapter functions well (someone posted this as negative, they may have just needed to boost their antenna signal, mine worked great), touchpad worked fine, solid performance for a lower grade laptop.
Summary: Sorry if I went out on a limb and actually talked more about the laptop instead of only the Operating System.
Pros: Screen was actually more comfortable than I thought for that resolution. Didnt get hot except for around the vent. Intel graphics were plenty for internet, office, and even half life 2 (could probaly get left 4 dead to run fine). The keyboard is very good and is similar in feel to my old thinkpad...
Cons: Screen quickly inverts or washes out when tilted. The fan seemed to speed up and slow down suddently and often, gets annoying if in an quiet area. Didn;t know it was cheaper on lenovos site
Summary: This is the first notebook I have ever owned but I have used them before. All my curent systems are ibm/lenovo and I have always been impressed with thequality and features of lenovo. This also my first real experiance with vista. I found that I may leave the vista on it.
Pros: Very well packed and fully loaded. Even comes with xp pro disc if you wish to back date it from windows vista buisness. Unpacking and seting up went without a hitch. I couldn't do better for the price.
Cons: I hate those touch pad mice! Give me a regular mouse.
Summary: I repeat, the touchpad works perfectly. Make sure your disable button in the top right corner, above the keyboard, is turned off. The light does not stay on even when the touchpad is turned off. Aside from this little, yet confusing, design flaw the laptop works great.
Pros: Laptop is fast and energy efficient. Plus it comes with XP instead of Vista.
Cons: DESIGN FLAW: The touchpad has a disable button located at the top right of the keyboard. It looks just like an indicator light and it's hard to tell it's a button. Because of this, some people have thought the touchpads are defective. They work properly.
