Summary: Bought this 16 months ago and I just lost my hard drive (and it went fast). Thankfully, I had most of it updated. But, it really should last longer than 16 months. I never travelled with it and it was not moved around much at all. I love Lenovo and will buy again, but was disappointed with this computer. I guess I got what I paid for.
Summary: If this laptop came with a Windows 7 option, it would be perfect for my purposes. I gambled on a Windows 8 computer and I loathe it. It takes twice as long to accomplish half as much. Office 2010 crashes constantly under Windows 8! I have lost count on how many Powerpoints I 've had to recreate in part or in full because of crashes or corruption during saves. If you want a toy operating system, then Windows 8 is probably ok.
Summary: I spent around $570 on this laptop and it works OK. The battery is a little disappointing 'cause it can only work as much as 2 h. It is saying that the smart fan is "noise control" but in fact it makes lots of noises. Anyway, I recommend this laptop based on its prince and not-bad quality.
Summary: First, let me point out by saying that I absolutely hate the wifi on this laptop. The signal is so poor and the connectivity to my router is nearly non-existant unless I'm within 10 feet of it! Apparently, the lower end Lenovo laptops made within the last year are suffering from wifi connectivity problems, all of them, not just this one.
Summary: I was very reluctant to go for a Win 8 machine but an online techie pointed to a download which looks an feels like Win 7 (what I come used to) with some other adjustments of annoying things about Win 8 which are unnecessarily complex (the sign on which logs you onto MS account rather than just allowing access to the machine for example).
