Summary: NOTE: I purchased my Ideapad Z585 from Best Buy NOT Amazon. I purchased it for use with a computer course that I am taking this summer. It worked fine for 2 weeks. The sound and display were great. Just two weeks after I received the thing, it died and will not power on. I was working on battery power when it ran low, I plugged it in. 20 minutes later, it powered off.
Summary: I bought this laptop in October of 2012, and I will say this reguarding it. It will be the LAST Lenovo product I purchase. In terms of running another operating system such as Linux, secure boot software made it nearly impossible. When I did manage to configure this frankenstein-like abomination to run Ubuntu, the Broadcom wireless device would not work correctly or in most cases not at all.
Summary: To those of you looking at buying this laptop... don't believe the specs... It states it has intel integrated graphics.... This is false... AMD APU's have HD 7*** series graphics on board. This model has either an HD 7520G or 7660G integrated gpu. There is a model of this laptop with dual graphics card, a 7670M, which is actually a decent, dedicated gpu, and a 7660G which is on die with the cpu running in crossfire with the dedicated graphics card.
Summary: nice key board, fairly good graphics and processor speed for a laptop, but hard drive failed after only 6 weeks, thankfully amazon agreed to a replacement, otherwise it was back to lenovo and who knows how long, sadly the replacement was also faulty the number`3` key broken and a card reader failure so also returned for a refund.
