Summary: The laptop itself is just "OK". So far I am not complaining because I did not experience anything wrong with it. But before I bought the device I figured that since it's Lenovo, it should be better than other laptop brands. It's not. And Windows 8 in my opinion does not belong on a laptop. It works great on a tablet, and that's where it should stay.
Summary: I've owned this laptop about a month now. I replaced a 6 year old $350 HP laptop with this one which was a bit more. I read that Lenovo is one of the top laptop brands so I figured it would be a step up from my HP, but honestly I'm not all that impressed. First of all, after booting, it takes several minutes to connect to the internet...the HP always connected right away. Also, once connected, the signal is quite a bit weaker than with the HP..
Summary: Unfortunately, I cannot endorse Lenovo products. I used the HDMI output into my HDTV 5 or 6 times to play movies I had downloaded and then the HDMI output failed. My lightly used laptop was about 16 months old, past the one-year warranty. Lenovo said it was a failed motherboard compnent and wanted $300 plus shipping to replace the motherboard. They would not pay for it. This should not happen on so young a computer. Poor quality control.
Summary: I planned on using the weekend to setup my computer, so I'm writing this review on Saturday. Newegg customer support is closed on the weekends, and for this item, I need to contact the support center directly for an RMA to return it rather than using the online RMA system. So I have to wait until Monday to speak with someone in support.
Pros: Seems fast, good value for the money. Haven't done much with it because of problems noted below. I like the overall design an layout. Sound system is a plus.
Cons: Make sure you got the right video card. Even though it was advertised as including the NVidia GeForce GT 630M, I got the integrated HD 4000 graphics instead. It even has the NVidia sticker on the front panel. I didn't even realize this until I was browsing through the control panel while on hold with Lenovo support on an unrelated matter. The tech support guy confirmed that my laptop did not include he NVidia card. So I'm returning this for a replacement.
Pros: Great price with rebate for the specs. Good cooling system.
Cons: Had to do some research to find out why I couldn't update graphics drivers or Java. Turns out the latest drivers aren't compatible with the dual GPU system intel has going on. So the solution is to down the 306.02 beta driver from nvidia. Low res screen is lame...
Summary: This laptop would be perfect if it didn't disconnect from the internet everytime I shut the lid and walk away for more than 30 seconds. It is not the settings, my husband looked, and I have too. It is fine one you restart it but a bit of a nuisance. apart from that, very fast and works well, not keen on windows 8 but that's another matter.
Summary: This is a really lovely build and I love the actual hardware but the unfortunate thing is it is loaded with Windows 8 which is the most hateful operating system I have ever encountered. I am going to have to pay to get the awful thing taken off and Windows 7 put on so I can bear to use it without finding myself on a new page by a move of the mouse to the wrong place.
