Summary: The computer is okay. I do not like the way AOL comes up. AOL on windows 7 was much, much easier to use. It was easier on windows 7 to go back. The above is not necessarily the fault of Lenovo, but of microsoft.
Summary: The laptop itself is just "OK". So far I am not complaining because I did not experience anything wrong with it. But before I bought the device I figured that since it's Lenovo, it should be better than other laptop brands. It's not. And Windows 8 in my opinion does not belong on a laptop. It works great on a tablet, and that's where it should stay.
Love Lenovo, but Microsoft operating system 8 SUCKS and infuriates.

Summary: I will avoid buying any PC product that has the new operating system. Microsoft keeps messing up. VISTA was awful, 7 was better, now the new 8 op system is another disaster. Too bad it effects rating for Lenovo product.
Summary: I need to dual boot my laptop and I've never had issues doing so before. Then Windows 8 comes along with UEFI and screws things up royally. Installing ubuntu on this machine took me back to the 90s when installing linux used to feel like touch and go. This laptop in particular has a BIOS that doesn't allow it to boot anything but Windows and RHEL in UEFI mode. I tried legacy booting, but the install got so royally screwed up that I had to factory reset everything.
Summary: Purchased the Lenovo Ideapad Z580-2151-28U for MS Office and Web Browsing use. I expected it to really perform well with the i5-2.5GHz CPU. However it was sluggish at best. My specific install included Software Firewall, AV software, MS Office. Running wireless on a G-network. (Network NOT an issue... continue reading.) As received BIOS and drivers. You would click IE icon in quick launch toolbar an wait a second or two for IE's window to appear. Similarly for Outlook.
Summary: Unfortunately, I cannot endorse Lenovo products. I used the HDMI output into my HDTV 5 or 6 times to play movies I had downloaded and then the HDMI output failed. My lightly used laptop was about 16 months old, past the one-year warranty. Lenovo said it was a failed motherboard compnent and wanted $300 plus shipping to replace the motherboard. They would not pay for it. This should not happen on so young a computer. Poor quality control.
