Summary: UEFI is a huge pain but otherwise it's a good machine
Pros: The first thing you notice is how solidly built the laptop is. It also has a beautiful screen.
Cons: I was unaware that it would contain UEFI instead of a traditional BIOS so I had to boot into Windows and disable secure boot and enable legacy mode to get my Linux partition loaded. There is no way to select which device to boot from anymore which is really annoying especially if you need recovery.
Summary: I've used Lenova Laptops for years with no real problem. I bought one of these for my daughter. She loved it but a week or two later the back-lighting failed rendering the screen useless. Because she liked it so much, I just got a replacement. This time the keyboard packed up within a few weeks. It comes laden with bloat-ware, trial editions of products and performance-sapping junk, but once you've done a fresh Win 8 and Office install, it runs really well.
Summary: This is a great product and it is probably one of the best laptops for the price, it can handle almost anything you can throw at it. I see loads of people complaining about Windows 8, I would have agreed until I got this laptop. it works flawless and in some ways is much better than Windows 7 with the ease and speed of finding files or apps. Although being an amazing laptop, I gave it a 4/5 because of the failing hard-drive which I am currently experiencing.
Summary: This is a smart, fast, well built machine. However it has two key problems. The first is that it is Windows 8, which is obviously not its fault, but if you are used to Windows 7 you may well hate Windows 8 so do some research first. The second is specific to this machine. If you upgrade from Windows 8 to 8.1, which you will want to do, the screen drivers do not work and you will be faced with a very very dark screen once you press one of the brightness control keys.
Summary: I've had this for several months and after some issues with Battery control and other things which required some support calls to a Lenovo authorised warranty site to update the drivers etc. (I'm not IT savvy but they were very helpful and talked me through the needed steps and sent email instructions) it has worked well and with the i7 CPU is very fast.. Be aware though this does NOT come with MS Office or any other type of Office applications.
Summary: The laptop was delivered on time (as usual amazon seems punctual), however the price seems high considering this same laptop with the same specification can be bought in ebuyer for £389.00. I would have returned this laptop and asked for refund so I could buy the same from ebuyer but I could not be bothered to do so.
Summary: Got this laptop for a replacement of our DELL. Cant complain about the hardware......does what it says. One little bug bear is the poor quality resolution.....bit grainy. Software however is........AWFUL!! I hate Windows 8 and with the upgrade it has made my computer slow. Microsoft get your act together!!!
Summary: The laptop works fine but I had some problems with the drivers for the Win 8.1. I had a problem with the screen brightness as well, suddenly the backlight went off and I could barely see what it was showing... I got it 'fixed' by adjusting the screen brightness while the laptop was booting.
