Great specs, build quality was sub-par

Brandon, Amazon
6 April 2014
  • Summary: The specs are outstanding, and the software was great with little-to-no bloatware. I actually enjoyed lenovo's energy management app and have been using it for over a year. My only gripe about this is the build quality. I had a dead pixel right off the bat, but there's no way I'd wait for a return. Another dead pixel or two popped up over my year of using the laptop.

If only

Andres Vazquez, Amazon
7 November 2013
  • Summary: I found that Cell Locker has very fast shipping and when a problem arose with the computer, their tech response was immediate. I was very impressed. Even though the computer had to be returned, I can see myself purchasing from them again.

Good Laptop, two major issues

Christopher Cook, Amazon
17 July 2013
  • Summary: There are two issues people should be aware of. 1. It gets really, really hot when the nVidia card is in use. The hard drive gets so hot it's above the recommended temp range (>55 C). This could cause premature failure. 2. You can't output the nVidia graphics through HDMI. Only VGA, this will cause issues if you want to hook it up to your TV. other than that, it works great.

Watch for this known issue (otherwise a solid gaming laptop)

WW, Amazon
3 April 2013
  • Summary: I purchased a Lenovo Y580 "gaming laptop" for the good nVidia GTX 660 GPU & generally quite nice specs (1920x1080 res, Blu-Ray [in the model I bought]) for the asking price. I was unable to resolve the problems described below & ended up buying a Lenovo Y500 (I'm not a Lenovo devotee; the value/price/performance is right for me).

Good specs, fragile display

David Charcape, Amazon
26 November 2012
  • Summary: This computer is fast and has amazing speakers. The display, however, started to show deadpixels. I believe this problem is because of the too fragile display, with which i had to play around to 'fix' the problem temporarily. I have returned the item because of this problem only. All other aspects of the computer are very good. I expected higher quality construction/assembling from lenovo.

Hard drive bricked after a week.

Giik, Newegg
19 October 2012
  • Pros: Incredibly lightweight despite its power. Was able to run Borderlands 2 on high graphics with hardly any slowdown. It never went above a comfortable temperature while running, either. I'm mentioning this in past tense because...
  • Cons: The hard drive completely failed after a week of normal use. It stopped being recognized as a bootable device, unable to recover it. Completely bricked. The only forewarning of this was that it was unable to recognize the hard drive once or twice before, but a restart would fix that.

Touchpad does not work!

Me, Newegg
28 September 2012
  • Pros: Very fast great price for the specs. Awesome graphics card.
  • Cons: Mouse buttons are part of the touch pad! Every time I right or left click it moves the mouse, what the heck where they thinking. Glossy Mirror Screen great to check your hair not so much for work.

finally my review

Gustavo E, Amazon
11 August 2012
  • Summary: I am editing this from my initial review. At first, I wasn't sure about this model because there is contradictory information regarding the max screen resolution. Product summary says it is 768p while product description states it is 1080p FHD. Amazon support was pretty much useless and had no answer and only said I could order it and if I did not like it, I could return it.

Great Spec computer but poor keyboard

Lyndon, Amazon
20 May 2013
  • Summary: Ordered this on the 3rd May. On unpacking the laptop I was impressed initially by the design and build quality. The windows 8 OS started almost immediately with a 16GB SSD, not 64GB I might add. The laptop has an impressive GPU an nvidia GTX 660M with 2GB of GDDR5 RAM. I managed to play Bioshock infinite on medium quality without any problems at all and there is a video driver update which does give some improvements in game playing as well.
