Lenovo IdeaPad Y580 Review

AtomicGamer
14 January 2013
  • Excerpt: It wasn't that long ago that getting a gaming laptop meant spending two grand and having to lug around a massive slab of plastic and metal that weighed a good ten pounds - twelve if you counted the power brick which you pretty much needed if you wanted to use the computer for more than an hour.

Lenovo Y580 15.6-inch Laptop Review

ThinkComputers
18 October 2012
  • Summary: Final Thoughts The idea behind the Y580 and previous Y570 is an all-in-one laptop that can serve many purposes.  Lenovo took what they did right with the Y570 and improved upon it in many different ways and have put together a very powerful machine in the Y580. The Y580 does have a very sleek look to it with its nice brushed aluminum lid and silver accents.
  • Pros: Intel i7 processor and NVIDIA GTX 660M graphics, Backlit keyboard, Full HD resolution on a 15.6inch screen, Battery life
  • Cons: Could have been a little more stylish

Lenovo IdeaPad Y580

MobileTechReview.com
16 September 2012
  • Conclusion: Though it's not a high style product, the Lenovo IdeaPad Y580 is most definitely a performance machine that offers a great deal of performance and quality hardware for the money. From the good 1080p IPS display to the wicked performance in gaming and graphics/video editing apps, it's hard to go wrong with the Y580. It's got enough power to remain useful for several years, and we like the excellent keyboard and JBL speakers as well. Recommended.
  • Pros: Excellent list of high end features for a relatively low price. Great for gaming performance.
  • Cons: Visually boring, not particularly thin or light.

Lenovo IdeaPad Y580 review

itproportal.com
31 August 2012
  • Conclusion: The Lenovo IdeaPad Y580 gives you plenty of bang for your buck, and does a great job as a desktop replacement rig. It features a dazzling screen with a full 1080p resolution, a built-in Blu-ray player, and even a full-sized keyboard on top of very impressive multimedia and gaming capabilities. While the rival HP Envy 17 offers a similar smorgasbord of features, the Y580 outguns it while costing a couple of hundred quid less.
  • Pros: Great gaming and multimedia chops, Superb full HD display, Quality integrated speakers, Built-in Blu-ray player, Good selection of ports
  • Cons: Battery life isn’t the best
