Lenovo IdeaPad Y570-086225U Laptop Review

Notebookcheck
31 December 2011
  • Summary: Multimedia Nexus. Desktop replacement notebooks are a dime a dozen, and Lenovo has tossed its hat into the ring with its introduction of the IdeaPad Y570, a strange hybrid between a media center and a portable business notebook. While the last part could be a little doubtful, the Y570’s style, fit, finish, and power-saving features make it an attractive pick for the shopper interested in a multimedia center with no compromises.
  • Pros: NVIDIA's Optimus switchable graphics, The JBL speakers, NVIDIA's Optimus technology and the overall fit and finish of the Y570 were impressive, to say the least.
  • Cons: The weight, Lack of a full HD screen, To be honest? A higher-resolution screen, and the speed of a fast hard drive/SSD.

Would You Like a Computer to Go With Your Shovelware?

Wired
9 September 2011
  • Excerpt: Lenovo’s IdeaPad series — the bulkier, cheaper and more consumer-friendly little sibling to the ThinkPad line — gets little love, but why? Surely not just because Lenovo replaced the vaunted ThinkPad keyboard with little chicklets, right? (More on that in a bit.) The IdeaPad Y570 has so much going for it that it’s hard to know where to start.
