A beast in monk' s clothing

Bogdan Cosmin-Aurel, Amazon
17 October 2012
  • Summary: While I admit it has passed its prime, this little laptop is capable of big things. Aside from its design that is solemn but also slick, what it has under its hood is really impressive. You just can' t go wrong with an i7. With this configuration I played the latest Need for Speed (The Run) and it just went with it. No problems what-so-ever. I did experience a single soft-related problem: my video card crashed while performing my Windows 7 update for the very 1st time.

Nice i7 Laptop

Technopolis, Amazon
7 October 2012
  • Summary: I've been looking for a good laptop for a while. I found an article in a magazine and there was a review of this computer. It immediately brought my attention - its sharp look, great colors and wonderful finish. Plus, I always wanted to have a good graphic card. The laptop also had some movie programs/functions that I was really interested in since I watch most movies on my computer. It was one of the best purchases I've made.

very stable

  • Excerpt: Outside of the Apple world and Macbooks craze, if there is a laptop that is as stable, then it is the Lenovo laptops. My IdeaPad was a great deal on the lenovo website and shipped to me very quickly - comparable to apple company in every way in that respect. The system is stable. Mine has never crashed, and no programs have ever frozen on me, even while I worked on large files, I had seamless computing.

Amazing laptop for a great deal

  • Excerpt: This laptop has amazing features. But the best I found is the digital dolby speakers. Whenever we have a party I connected the laptop to the speakers and it gives best quality sound. Another feature I like is that it has the HDMI port that gives me easy access to connect my laptop to the tv. We have a lot of movie nights thanks to this laptop. It also has a veriface function, where my face is basically the password.

  • Excerpt: A little bit about me first: I've been a Systems Manager in the IT field for over 20 years now and have had the opportunity to work with and on so many different systems there's no use counting anymore. What you need to know right off the bat is that this is the system that I researched and bought for my own personal use. So with that said, here's the review: This performance laptop offers fast cpu and memory combined with great graphics processing power.

Great performance

  • Excerpt: Sleek laptop, i really like the design. The performance of the laptop is also really great. I used it to play some games and the graphics are pretty smooth. Watching movies on this laptop is also really nice. The speakers are above average (for laptops), unlike other laptops which have very poor sound quality. I really like the face recognition software it has for loggin in. This way i can just sit in front of it to log in without having to type in my password.

Great for Audio work. Never Bluescreened. No issues when configured right.

RagingSilence, Amazon

  • Summary: I have to write this for the music heads who look for a good laptop to use. I have the 7200rpm 8gb DDR 1333 15.6" version of this laptop. I was making a decision between saving up an extra $2.5k to buy a mac or buying this. (NO this is not a review advocating one over the other). I am very glad I bought this at this point in time. has on it: 4 Usb (3x 2.0 and 1 combo sata) PCI card slot (Smaller) Audio jack Mic Jack I am a keyboardist by nature and a Guitarist 2nd.

This laptop isn't going to disappoint you

Rodrigo Riera "StarFox", Amazon
29 December 2010
  • Summary: To begin it is important to note that this is the only laptop at a price less than $ 1K that offers a Core i7 with an ATI video card 57XXX. If you want a laptop for work but also allows you some gaming experience, this is the most appropriate for the price. It's not as pretty or well build like an HP or Sony but the price difference justifies this detail. I personally highly recommend.

Y560 w/ i7 740Q

Trinigoth, Amazon
4 November 2010
  • Summary: I just bought, on special from Lenovo, a Lenovo Ideapad Y560 with an Intel® Core(tm) i7-740QM Processor ( 1.73GHz 1333MHz 6MB ) and a 500 gb (5400 rpm)/35gb SSD. Otherwise, the specs are the same. I have to say that this laptop is AWESOME. I have used macs and just couldn't get myself to buy my own without feeling completely ripped off with the hardware provided. This laptop is, so far, the answer I have been looking for.
