Summary: I have had this computer for 4 years now. We had a really rough start, but after getting to know one another, things have worked out phenomenally. I have the version with 8 GB of RAM, and It has yet to really push those limits. So on to the review: Performance: I'd give the performance of this machine a 10/10. With the i7 and discrete graphics, it really has the power of a desktop packed into a small case.
Summary: It's been four years, and this laptop gets hotter than my heater, and the hinges can't stay on the cheap plastic case. I will never buy a Lenovo product again for it's construction is not solid. The laptop inner guts like processor and memory are great, but the outside is what matters to a consumer!
Summary: I purchased this laptop from Lenovo 3 years ago in Dec'2010. It has had some problems but overall I am satisfied with the laptop and its amazing performance till date. I have the same configuration as mentioned on Amazon except for the RAM (I have 8GB) (Note : I have been using a 3D monitor with this laptop and now a 32" TV, connected via HDMI) Detailed Points: 1) Display - Good At a native resolution of 1366x768, the laptop has a decent display.
Summary: Hard drive no good, can not retrieve info, had to send back to get repaired, would not just send new hard drive. Ended up purchasing a Dell from Dell as a replacement to be able to get business working again. Got Dell in less that 48 hours and their warrantee will send parts needed along with local tech to do the repair.
Bad video flicker on my unit. How prevalent is the problem?
10 January 2013
Summary: The unit I received had a very annoying screen flicker. Search for "y560 flickering" on YouTube to see what it's like. I returned it. I don't know how widespread the problem is. A Google search for "y560 flicker" brings up quite a few people inquiring about this issue.
Summary: Pros: - Fast, - Comfortable keyboard, - Connection outlets (USBs, LAN, power ...) in right places, - Light compare to HP comps Cons: - Battery life is relatively short (2-3 hours), - Too many junk software that annoied me and makes computer to malfunction
Summary: While I admit it has passed its prime, this little laptop is capable of big things. Aside from its design that is solemn but also slick, what it has under its hood is really impressive. You just can' t go wrong with an i7. With this configuration I played the latest Need for Speed (The Run) and it just went with it. No problems what-so-ever. I did experience a single soft-related problem: my video card crashed while performing my Windows 7 update for the very 1st time.
Summary: I've been looking for a good laptop for a while. I found an article in a magazine and there was a review of this computer. It immediately brought my attention - its sharp look, great colors and wonderful finish. Plus, I always wanted to have a good graphic card. The laptop also had some movie programs/functions that I was really interested in since I watch most movies on my computer. It was one of the best purchases I've made.
Summary: Laptop worked fine for about 11 months. It then started crashing with Blue Screen very frequently. Sent it to Lenovo Support, they pretty much replaced every thing but the screen and keyboard. After a couple of months Laptop fails to start intermittently - Display Driver failed to initialize. Spoke with Lenovo support team and I will have to send it back to Lenovo support team.
Summary: I have owned this laptop for well over a year now and I haven't had the best experience with it, but it has been functional enough for continued use. We'll start with the good. PROS: - The speakers on this computer are impressive, really. Being sort of an audiophile and highly critical of most laptop speakers, the JBLs in this model do a fine job and then some.
