Great laptop, I recommended as long as you are OK w/ no touch screen functionality

Zoltan Mari Md "Zoltan", Amazon

  • Summary: Great laptop and very good price. The speed is impressive so are the sound and overall functionality. A pointing stick would have been appreciated, but the main disappointment is that the screen is not touch - of course that is my fault not having researched it more, but since much of my research was based on feedbacks like the one I'm writing now, and none mentioned it is not a touch screen, I am just including that in my review here.

Good machine

Angela S., Newegg
23 June 2014
  • Summary: They made a budget gaming machine possible. It destroys my old alienware which cost me double what I paid for this one, and the m14x is only a couple years old. I like the ultrabay SLI - what a great idea. This way you can still use a dvd player if you want, and more gaming power when you need it. I hope that they continue this line. I'm tempted to get rid of my desktop altogether. Yes, this laptop performs THAT well.
  • Pros: Lenovo is a pretty good brand. The laptops I purchased for work were always Thinkpads, and it's nice to see them branching out into more powerful machines that can do multimedia.
  • Cons: Really, the only cons I see with this notebook is the trackpad and the chiclet style keyboard. I feel there's really no excuse for a bad trackpad and a bad keyboard. Yes, it's a notebook and yes, for gaming most of us will be using a modern mouse and maybe hook up a keyboard as well... but That doesn't give companies a free pass to put terribly designed components on a machine. Still, it's only worth knocking off one egg because everything else about the notebook perf...

Fantastic!

Anthony A., Newegg
21 June 2014
  • Summary: Overall, if you're just an average Joe that enjoys gaming, but aren't over the top crazy about it, this laptop will definitely suit you. It's the best price for everything you get.
  • Pros: Let me start by saying that I'm a filthy casual when it comes to gaming, and my tech knowledge isn't astounding. I basically know what specs to look for and how to update drivers, and some other various small things. About average knowledge when it comes to that sort of thing.
  • Cons: -Charger is literally brick sized.

Great gaming laptop for the price with some correctable issues

Michael L., Newegg
21 June 2014
  • Pros: amazing speeds, great price. SLI works great but need to activate out of box. Runs everything I have in SLI. Screen that comes with is bright and crisp and 1920x1080 res is great. Bluetooth also a great feature.
  • Cons: I was first upset with this laptop because it kept crashing on me. I reinstalled drivers a lot and everytime I kept messing with the video drivers it kept crashing. as a last resort I decided to reinstall the updated video card bios for the SLI from Lenovo. It said it was the same version I was flashing but i did it anyways and it fixed all my problems with crashing. must have been corrupted files that came with the laptop. dock 1 egg for my inconvenience but the comp...

Incredible power for the money

m0ngr31, Amazon
18 June 2014
  • Summary: Laptop is great. Games run great, screen looks good, speakers are actually decent, and keyboard is nice. Here are a few negatives: -Trackpad is poor, even for PC standards. My previous HP dv6t that this is replacing had a better one. -Battery life is pretty bad, but what do you expect for SLI + i7? -No multimedia keys on the keyboard. Just nitpicky for me. I was able to use a keymapper to re-map some of the F-keys. -It's heavy.

NOT Dual Graphics Capable Anymore -- Removable Cards Discontinued!

Reanna B., Amazon
16 June 2014
  • Summary: BEWARE! Lenovo is marketing to gamers that they can use their y510p laptops with dual graphics cards. However, I ordered the 2nd removable card and was told it would ship in a month. Never happened. they discontinued the part. I let them know I wanted to return the laptop but conveniently for them it is past the 30-day return period! They are still at this racket!!!
