Lenovo IdeaPad Y510

honest.guy, REVIEW STREAM

  • Excerpt: I came across this laptop on Sunday in a local IT Hypermarket store while waiting for my friends for lunch. I’ve always been a fan of Lenovo laptops even though I don’t have the money to get one for myself due to their hefty price tags. And this new IdeaPad Y510 sort of got me interested since it is one of the first in IdeaPad series, which is Lenovo ’s entry into the consumer market. The laptop I saw costs around RM 3688 or USD$ 1050.

Great gaming laptop! AND CHEAP!

30 December 2008
  • Summary: This laptop is perfect for playing games. I had Just Cause running on everything maxed out and runs without any loss of framerate. Note: It says that it has a Nvidia Geforce 8600M GS. It's actually a Geforce 8600M GT!!!. With 256MB of DDR3 memory. And man was I surprised on the build quality of this monster. Very solid, unlike my old Acer Aspire 4315 (served me well though). Oh and speakers sound amazing for laptop speakers. Everything about this laptop is amazing!
  • Pros: Comfortable Keyboard, Great Software, Lightweight, Long Battery Life, Powerful, Quality Display, Quiet

The all rounder

16 September 2008
  • Summary: The Y510 has plenty of performance for a full range of multimedia entertainment needs thanks to its Core 2 Duo processor. Additionally, the 250GB hard drive in the Y510 is more storage than most consumers are likely to need in a laptop. You can only expect this laptop's sound quality from notebooks which are $1800+.
  • Pros: A great solid feel, Attractive, Dolby 51 Home Theater, Ergonomic Keyboard, Frameless LCD display, Gaming, Powerful, Quality Display, VeriFace technology
  • Cons: A bit heavy, Gets warm while gaming, Not too thin

  • Summary: I use this to work from home a couple of days, and for regular personal use. I love this laptop, except for the too frequent blue screen of death that seems to be associated with having too many Office documents open at one time.
  • Pros: Comfortable Keyboard, Lightweight, Long Battery Life, Quality Display, Quiet
  • Cons: Blue screen of death

Idea Pad

  • Summary: I strictly use this laptop at home. It serves me great for what I need it for. I was impressed with the battery life and the quality of sound that I get from the speakers. The only hitch for me was the lenovo media software. I ended up uninstalling and downloading different software all together. It was pretty useless. On the whole, I would reccommend this laptop to anyone. I love the look of it.
  • Pros: Comfortable Keyboard, Great speakers, Long Battery Life, Powerful, Quality Display, Quiet
  • Cons: Heavy, Lenovo Software weak

  • Summary: I love this laptop. It is very quiet, the screen is nice and big, the keyboard is comfortable, It is very fast, with LOTS of space. The webcamera is cool. I dont use veriface, so i disabled it. The only thing that would make is better is if it came with microsoft office apps. The only downside...its not very light. However, I say that being a mother of 2 who travels with my 3 yr old and 1 yr old. So, anything else to hold is not going to feel light.
  • Pros: Comfortable Keyboard, Great Software, Long Battery Life, Powerful, Quality Display, Quiet
  • Cons: Heavy
