  • Summary: Read win 8 for dummies before I started to use the PC. With the background everything was fine. Boots quickly. Tiles work well when I choose a specific program like excel. Fine when doing some video editing.

Design flaw

Anonymous, Newegg
2 February 2014
  • Summary: With a quick Internet search you will find that many people have this same issue.
  • Pros: Light weight
  • Cons: This model has a design flaw in the trackpad that causes the curser to jump randomly around the screen. Unfortunately I did not read the user reviews before ordering this machine however New Egg accepted the return since I had the machine less than 24 hours.

Lenovo IdeaPad U510 15.6 Ultrabook (Intel i5 3337U 1.8 GHz Processor) 6GB RAM, 1T HD

  • Summary: This laptop is Great! Other reviews make me wonder about user proficiency. I have not experienced any of the problems described by other users. Windows 8, just like any of the other rollout editions is a hassle to get used to and is obviously written to promote the touch screen genre. Again, this laptop is awesome, backlit keys, great screen resolution and very thin profile are great.

So far so good..... especially at this price

Nicholas M., Newegg
8 December 2013
  • Summary: For a cheap home laptop, I would definitely buy this again. It is thin, light, has great battery life (so far), and has performed well for my basic applications. Very happy.
  • Pros: After reading a lot of negative reviews, ie. keyboard flex, touchpad performance, wifi issues, I still decided to risk it and buy this laptop. At its sale price (450 after 40 discount) I could not find anything else that matched these specs. So far I have not been bothered by the aforementioned issues. I made sure the keyboard was snapped down all the way before powering on the machine, and while it does not have the most sturdy feel when typing, I do not feel that it...
  • Cons: Still getting used to Windows 8 - I will give it another week or 2 and see if I adjust. Not really a con on the machine, I knew it had Windows 8 when I ordered it, and I can always downgrade it if necessary.

Great Laptop For The Price

Simon J., Newegg
27 November 2013
  • Summary: 3. Installing Windows 7 on SSD
  • Pros: Got it for $450 in total
  • Cons: Touchpad - bit wonky like others have stated. However if you go to synaptics touchpad's website and download the driver from there, it's a lot better.
