Lenovo IdeaPad U430 Touch

15 February 2014
  • Summary: Value Unbeatable for this price. With an elegant if understated design, great ergonomics, good performance and a responsive touch screen, this Lenovo Ultrabook's price tag seems more than reasonable. One catch for U.S. buyers: The only place to get the IdeaPad U430 Touch is at BestBuy.com or its stores.
  • Pros: Great performance, Long battery life, Great ergonomics
  • Cons: Integrated graphics, Flaky touchpad mouse buttons

Lenovo IdeaPad U430 Touch

16 December 2013
  • Excerpt: It’s a tall order. Build a capable laptop, thin and light, with a touchscreen, and keep the price at a mainstream-friendly $700 or less. Yes, sacrifices will have to be made to get there, but surely this can be done, right? In the case of the Lenovo IdeaPad U430 Touch , the answer apparently remains no. Lenovo has unexpectedly been a leader at producing affordable yet capable notebooks, or at least it’s been giving it the old college try.
  • Pros: Cheap for a machine in this class. Looks pretty. Built-in, touchless Motion Control navigation is a neat add-on.
  • Cons: A trio of deal-killers on a laptop in this category: Rotten keyboard, primitive touchpad, budget screen.

18 October 2013
  • Conclusion: The U430 Touch, however, boasts an excellent keyboard, a stunning high-res display, enough speed to make everyday computing a breeze, and a battery that lasts almost an entire workday, all wrapped up in a beautiful aluminum chassis. You'll be hard pressed to find an affordable touch-screen ultrabook that makes as few compromises as the IdeaPad U430 Touch.
  • Pros: Attractive aluminum design, Comfy backlit keyboard, Gorgeous 1,600x900 display, Long battery life
  • Cons: Stiff touch pad, Tinny audio

Lenovo IdeaPad U430 Touch review

10 September 2013
  • Conclusion: Lenovo has managed to once again create budget Ultrabook magic with the Lenovo U430 Touch. At $699, this system is hard to beat, as it offers a decent display resolution, good keyboard, and adequate performance without sacrificing battery life. This is not to say the U430 is perfect; it most certainly isn’t. The low-contrast display saps media content of life, the touchpad feels a bit cheap, and some competitors last longer on a charge.
  • Pros: Good build quality and design, Great keyboard, 1600 x 900 display resolution, Adequate performance, Strong battery life, Cool, quiet operation
  • Cons: Touchpad feels cheap, Dull display, Speakers could be better

Lenovo IdeaPad U430 Touch

LAPTOP Magazine
6 September 2013
  • Summary: The mere fact that the $699 Lenovo U430 Touch has an attractive design, excellent backlit keyboard and strong endurance would be enough to make it one of our favorite Ultrabooks. But Lenovo went even further, adding voice-recognition software and undercutting the competition by at least $100. While it doesn't have category-leading performance and its display could be better, the U430 Touch is a great value for those who want a touch-screen notebook you can take anywhere.
  • Pros: Attractive all-aluminum design, Long battery life, Excellent backlit keyboard, Very loud speakers, Voice control
  • Cons: Display has narrow viewing angles, Lackluster webcam
