Review Lenovo IdeaPad S405 Notebook

Notebookcheck
31 December 2012
  • Summary: Couch potato. Lenovo's IdeaPad S405 comes with a Trinity quad-core and a light case and is very quiet. But, how do its dark glare-type display and its 32 Wh battery blend in with mobile ambitions?
  • Pros: light, 24 month warranty, works always quietly, decent system performance, maintenance possible, low power consumption, the removable battery, and the unlimited accessibility of fan, RAM, 2.5-inch HDD, and WiFi module
  • Cons: springy keyboard, short battery life, only Fast Ethernet, slow hard drive, reflective, dark display, only a single RAM slot (single channel), no VGA port, If low power at all cost, then the battery life should be long and the display bright and matte.

Lenovo IdeaPad S405 review

TechRadar UK
5 April 2013
  • Summary: Ultrabook by name, netbook by nature
  • Pros: Low weight, Ultrabook proportions, Cheap, Quiet, If you're after something that looks the part, without the action to fully back things up, then you're onto a winner with the Lenovo IdeaPad S405. It's thin and lightweight so it'll happily drop into a bag, and you could carry it all day without noticing it's there. Despite its low power output, the Lenovo IdeaPad S405 will happily perform most tasks with ease, such as browsing the web or watching HD movies, although fu...
  • Cons: Performance could be better, Similar to Intel-powered S400, Touchpad could be better, While the Ultrabook proportions look and feel great, unfortunately the Lenovo IdeaPad S405 doesn't quite hit the mark in terms of portability. With a battery life of between two and four hours, depending on use, it's certainly not capable of carrying out a full day's duty. The options are: you can live with this and work accordingly; carry the power supply with you every time you lea...
