Expert Review

  • Conclusion: As an extra system for home use, the IdeaPad S405 is an affordable option that offers a decent display, comfortable keyboard and touch pad, and fairly good-looking design. For anyone else, its slightly flimsy feel, lackluster performance, and poor battery life prevent a recommendation.
  • Pros: Inexpensive, Thin and lightweight, Impressive audio output
  • Cons: Weak performance and poor battery life, Flimsy case, No touch screen

Review Lenovo IdeaPad S405 Notebook

31 December 2012
  • Summary: Couch potato. Lenovo's IdeaPad S405 comes with a Trinity quad-core and a light case and is very quiet. But, how do its dark glare-type display and its 32 Wh battery blend in with mobile ambitions?
  • Pros: light, 24 month warranty, works always quietly, decent system performance, maintenance possible, low power consumption, the removable battery, and the unlimited accessibility of fan, RAM, 2.5-inch HDD, and WiFi module
  • Cons: springy keyboard, short battery life, only Fast Ethernet, slow hard drive, reflective, dark display, only a single RAM slot (single channel), no VGA port, If low power at all cost, then the battery life should be long and the display bright and matte.

Lenovo IdeaPad S405 review

4 July 2013
  • Excerpt: The Lenovo IdeaPad S405 is the newest model in the company's ultra-portable range of laptops. Just 22mm thick and weighing 1.8kg, it’s just as portable as its predecessors, showing that thin and stylish laptops aren’t limited to the realm of the high-end Ultrabooks.

Lenovo IdeaPad S405 review

TechRadar UK
5 April 2013
  • Summary: Ultrabook by name, netbook by nature
  • Pros: Low weight, Ultrabook proportions, Cheap, Quiet, If you're after something that looks the part, without the action to fully back things up, then you're onto a winner with the Lenovo IdeaPad S405. It's thin and lightweight so it'll happily drop into a bag, and you could carry it all day without no...
  • Cons: Performance could be better, Similar to Intel-powered S400, Touchpad could be better, While the Ultrabook proportions look and feel great, unfortunately the Lenovo IdeaPad S405 doesn't quite hit the mark in terms of portability. With a battery life of between two and four hours, depending on use,...

Test Lenovo IdeaPad S405 Notebook

22 December 2012
  • Pros: Geringes Gewicht, 24 Monate Garantie, Arbeitet stets leise, Gute Anwendungsleistung, Wartung möglich, Niedriger Energieverbrauch
  • Cons: Biegsame Tastatur, Kurze Laufzeiten, Nur Fast-Ethernet, Langsame Festplatte, Spielgelndes, zu dunkles Display, Nur ein RAM-Sockel (Single Channel), Kein VGA-Port
