Compact but not very durable

CHRlSTY, Viewpoints

  • Excerpt: I compared the different netbooks and decided on the Lenovo S10 Netbook based on the price and options available.  I was looking for something small that I could travel with and I really liked the red one.  However, after only 2 trips with the netbook, the cover started to crack on the front.  I carry the netbook in a well padded Sumo sleeve and never had this problem with my 2 year old HP laptop.

Good Win7 netbook / tablet

P. To "PTo", Amazon
6 June 2011
  • Summary: I got two of these to demonstrate our touch screen software in trade shows. The build is pretty solid and while lots of plastic are used, it looks and feels pretty stylish. The CPU is slightly under powered, and coupled with the slight lag of the touch screen, makes the overall experience a bit lacking. The screen is nice and crisp though, and the unit is pretty enjoyable when used as a straight netbook.

The good and the bad

Anonymous, Amazon
25 January 2011
  • Summary: I've had my Lenovo S10-3 for around 7 months now. The device has held up like a champ through daily backpack abuse. The keyboard, which was the biggest seller for me, is absolutely amazing. The newer N455 processor with the 1GB DDR3 ram made for a no brainer at the time of my purchase. That said, on to the terrible things: Windows 7 Starter Edition is terrible. It is not only slow on this device but extremely crippled in usability.

S10-3 great PC with some quirks

C. Terry, Amazon
8 January 2011
  • Summary: The Lenovo S-10 is a great little PC if you can get around its quirks. Keyboard is bigger than most netbooks and has a really nice feel. I haven't used the quickstart yet much but it seems like a useful feature. It comes with Windows 7 starter (not the full blown Windows 8) but that seems to do everything I need -- I don't really care if I can't personalize the background on my netbook! Some people complain about the built-in mouse pad.

  • Summary: This laptop was for a birthday gift. I was worried that it wasn't going to come on time since it left the warehouse 5 days after I had purchased it. When it arrived I was surprised to see it didn't have a manual and it came with a very used/old white power cord. It didn't even match the laptop. Luckily, I sent en email and a very helpful representative was able to accomodate me with another powercord and emailed my manual booklet.

Inspect your item carefully

  • Summary: I was only able to spend a little time with the netbook (Had to send it back..More on this below), during which I was a little underwhelmed- however, I expected this in advance as this is before "tweaking" the machine. As many have noted let me reiterate that you MUST do 2 things to fully appreciate the awesomeness of this little machine: 1) Upgrade to 2 Gigs of RAM 2) Fresh Install of WIndows 7 (Home Premium, Professional, or Ultimate) This is necessary because straight...

A good product with some annoying issues

Joo Y. Chung, Amazon
23 March 2010
  • Summary: I bought this computer as a replacement for another netbook. I figured the touch screen would be helpful for taking notes, marking up papers, and the like (I'm a PhD student). At the price, it couldn't be beat -- it was one of the lowest-cost touchscreen / tablet full computer (i.e., just like a regular computer, versus something like an iPad) portables on the market. I find a lot to like about the computer, but also a lot to dislike.

Lenovo S10 10.2-Inch Ideapad

Ecrivain, Rate it all!

  • Summary: I wanted a light, low cost mini notebook that would allow me to journal, do computations, and access limited internet.. in essence, a machine suited for jotting notes and to travel with on short business trips. As I intend to make short video messages for my children, the larger 160G HD was also appealing. And, I needed Windows to communicate (virtual tunnel) with my company's systems & MS Office formatted files.

Lenovo S10 10.2-Inch Ideapad

  • Summary: I'm comparing this with my wife's Asus 901. The Lenovo build quality (and style/design) are really quite good, and it feels more solid than the Asus. Bigger keyboard, slightly better trackpad, bigger screen. I immediately installed Ubuntu Linux and its quite speedy, and suspend/hibernate are flawless.
