Compact but not very durable

CHRlSTY, Viewpoints

  • Excerpt: I compared the different netbooks and decided on the Lenovo S10 Netbook based on the price and options available.  I was looking for something small that I could travel with and I really liked the red one.  However, after only 2 trips with the netbook, the cover started to crack on the front.  I carry the netbook in a well padded Sumo sleeve and never had this problem with my 2 year old HP laptop.

A good product with some annoying issues

Joo Y. Chung, Amazon

  • Summary: I bought this computer as a replacement for another netbook. I figured the touch screen would be helpful for taking notes, marking up papers, and the like (I'm a PhD student). At the price, it couldn't be beat -- it was one of the lowest-cost touchscreen / tablet full computer (i.e., just like a regular computer, versus something like an iPad) portables on the market. I find a lot to like about the computer, but also a lot to dislike.

  • Summary: This laptop was for a birthday gift. I was worried that it wasn't going to come on time since it left the warehouse 5 days after I had purchased it. When it arrived I was surprised to see it didn't have a manual and it came with a very used/old white power cord. It didn't even match the laptop. Luckily, I sent en email and a very helpful representative was able to accomodate me with another powercord and emailed my manual booklet.

User Review

  • Excerpt: Stocked with a 6 cell battery, windows XP, wifi and sleek design the Lenovo s10 provides class and performance to the naked eye. Getting into the guts, putting it through day to day use however, begins to show that it's "makeup" wears off and the luster becomes dull. In the 2 weeks...

Lenovo S10 10.2-Inch Ideapad

  • Summary: I wanted a light, low cost mini notebook that would allow me to journal, do computations, and access limited internet.. in essence, a machine suited for jotting notes and to travel with on short business trips. As I intend to make short video messages for my children, the larger 160G HD was also appealing. And, I needed Windows to communicate (virtual tunnel) with my company's systems & MS Office formatted files.

  • Summary: I'm comparing this with my wife's Asus 901. The Lenovo build quality (and style/design) are really quite good, and it feels more solid than the Asus. Bigger keyboard, slightly better trackpad, bigger screen. I immediately installed Ubuntu Linux and its quite speedy, and suspend/hibernate are flawless.

Lenovo Ideapad S10-3t 0651: A cool tablet PC combined in a netbook design

  • Summary: The best gift I received from my husband last year. This small device helped me a lot in at school when I took my Nursing Course. It has a very light design, cool features and the one I like most is the Face Recognition before you logon to the system for increase in security. I also like the touchscreen feature and the built-in camera.
  • Pros: Light weight, touchscreen, secured logon, sleek design
  • Cons: Battery issues at High Performance, slow processor, slow speakers

  • Excerpt: I've had my Lenovo netbook for around 6 months now and can report that it has served its purpose more than adequatley in that time. It's light and portable but still with a reasonable size keyboard. Its not quite as easy to type on as other netbooks ive used from Toshiba or Acer but its ok for me. I can imagine if you do have large hands then the Lenovo might be a struggle so id just advise trying it out thoroughly in store before buying.
