Summary: TERRIBLE TERRIBLE hinge design. The hinges are weak and will break in just a few weeks of ownership. The computer it'self is fine but the casing is the worst I have ever seen. I will never buy another Lenovo again unless they improve their casing.
Hinges keep breaking, would not recommend purchasing
S Padilla, Amazon
12 July 2014
Summary: Like so many others, my Lenovo's hinge broke twice while covered under warranty (which I had to pay out of pocket to send to Texas each time, and each time it took two months to get back because the "part" was out of stock). I even decided to extend warranty another year just to cover the hinge because I knew it would break!
Consumer Lenovo laptops DO NOT have Thinkpad quality
1 July 2014
Summary: I use Lenovo Thinkpads at work and those are fine machines. My mistake was to think Thinkpad quality rubbed off on other Lenovo offerings. While the G570 has decent specs, the case design is a disaster. Like many other posters here, after a few months of ownership the hinges started breaking. Turn the laptop sideways and little bits of plastic and metal fall out.
Summary: I can't tell you how horrible my experience has been with this laptop. I have used laptops almost exclusively since they first came out, chose Lenovo this time because of their reputation, and this laptop is a disaster. The hard drive died 14 months after I bought it. Well, that happens, but the authorized repair place had to wait weeks for a replacement to be sent from China.
Summary: I never used Levono laptop before. I tried for the first time due to its relatively light weight. This model has Hinge issues/. One day the screw fell down and hinge is out of its slot. I would not recommend this laptop to anyone. I suggest you to stay away from this laptop.
Summary: Even with IBM babysitting these foreign manufacturers they can't get it right. I looked high-and-low for a new computer WITHOUT Windows 8 before I settled on this model with Windows 7!!!. And I do mean 'settled'. I didn't want the 10key pad on the right of the keyboard, and I certainly didn't need all the additional, addon proprietary software, and I THOUGHT I didn't need the extra hardware warranty, but guess what....
Summary: I purchased this laptop 2 years ago directly from Lenova. They no longer carry it so I can't write a review on their website, but I wanted to make sure someone knew of the issues I've had with this laptop. I've used Lenova laptops at work and have not had any issues with them. That's why I bought a Lenova laptop for my daughter. In two years with this, I've had to send it back to Lenova during the 1-year warranty period for hard drive issues.
Summary: It has been returned to Lenovo once, refurbished by Staples 9 months after purchase. It is still slow and giving us surprise breakdowns and lockups. I believe Lenovo makes good products, but this is NOT one of them by far. Very displeased and a Lenovo stockholder as well!
Summary: Whole thing has been glitchie - like it came with its own viruses. Then the screen picked up a green line through the middle and then the bottom third turned purple. All this after I spent two weeks moving all my stuff from my old computer - a process I hate anyway. Now I get to look forward to lovely process of repair or replace. Will write more when I find out how bad a nightmare that will be.
Summary: Please do your research before you purchase any Lenovo products, their customer service is not the best, the design of this particular laptop, has an inherent flaw, with the screen hinge. After 1 year of purchasing this unit the hinge broke out of the case, and you then would have to send the whole unit back to Lenovo, to have it repaired. I have used Dell for year and never had any such problems, so I am selling this units and getting a DELL.
