Summary: Shipment: Delivered On July 26, 2013 Lenovo G580 15.6-Inch Laptop (Dark Brown IMR/Metal) After 2.5 months and 1.5 months past the return to Amazon time limit. I started having problems that degenerated till I no longer was able to boot. called the friendly Phillipeno?? warrentee service and after several hrs of trying this and that they said they would just send me the factory reinstal disk's.
Cons: Received a defective item. The bearings on the fan are shot and fan was making a very loud grinding noise. Sent laptop back to Newegg and they say they couldn't find the problem and it must have been something that "the user" installed or has a virus. They are now sending the same laptop back.
Summary: I recieved this with much anticipation. I had done a lot of research and benchmark research. This pc has the specs but not the performance. I believe there to be an internal voltage problem. Anytime this laptop is plugged in frame rates drop performance falls on its face and all cores clock down ( and yes energy management settings are proper.) Yet when it is on just battery power it performs as it should. I know this does not make any sense.
Summary: I'm so pissed. I hope this is a defect and not just the worst piece of crap machine I've ever dealt with brand new. Started up fine. Immediately sluggish to the point where I want to smash it. Stupid.
Summary: Owning this computer is like living in slow motion. After stripping all programs out including shutting down virus checker, it finally runs equal to my previous laptop that is 7 years old. Most of the programs it comes with are just trying to sell you something. And I am progressive in computers having 4 laptops, including a MacBook Pro, and 2 desktops at home, but as far as I am concerned Winows 8 is just unnecessary and pointless.
Summary: This laptop is the slowest computer I have ever purchased. My 12 year old acer XP is much much faster. My 11 year old son made that observation. He purchased this laptop with his birthday money and is not a happy kid. Seriously needing to return it and spend a tiny bit more on something that actually works. The impression I get is that windows 8 is so big that the computer is struggling to operate. I am also certain there is a ton of bloatware on it.
Summary: Absolute junk. I don't write reviews but for this, I'm making an exception. Other than the textured case, I can't say a single good thing about this piece of junk. When I turned it on my immediate impression was the RAM was defective. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. I worked on it for a full day, stripped out all the bloatware it ships with, did all the updates and it's still a boat anchor. I'm taking it back tomorrow.
