  • Excerpt: I bought this laptop over the summer to be able to use at college. I have had absolutely no problems with this computer. I got it at a fair discount, and it has absolutely been worth it. It does not have high end specs, but for anybody with normal usage, they are definitely more than adequate. I have no problems with it being able to run all of the many programs I routinely run.

  • Excerpt: I got this laptop for free from a Google/Lenovo mathematics award in my senior year.  I replaced my old Gateway Laptop with the Lenovo G550 and I am amazed by its performance considering it is "economy" priced.  It comes with a free trial of McAfee, Microsoft Office 2007, and Adobe Reader 9.  It has a webcam and built-in microphone.   With the webcam, you can log-in with Veriface (after set up).

  • Excerpt: The G550 notebook computer from Lenovo is a good computer. Unfortunately it is not for sell anymore. It features a Intel Core 2 Duo processor at around 2GHz which is good for almost all your need including light gaming. You can customized the device with Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7. The screen is a 15.6 high definition LED backlight which means it is brighter and uses less power. The screen resolution is 1366x768. The graphics are only integrated.

A pretty good laptop overall, unless you need accurate color.

  • Summary: The LED backlit display that I thought would produce better colors thinking that LED backlit was all the hype in LED LCD HDTVs like Samsung, Sony, etc. produces a slightly purplish color cast to the image. I thought getting the LED backlit display at such a low cost was a great deal, but I guess you really get what you pay for. In this price range, I'm almost thinking a traditional CCFL backlit LCD would have looked more accurate in terms of colors.

The Lenovo G550 is an all round good, robust, and reliable laptop

  • Excerpt: "...looks and first appearances the Lenovo G550 laptop looks pretty standard. No impressive artwork, light features, or super slim dimensions. It has a shiny hard plastic shell which doesn't shout out 'super cool' but shouldn't really matter if you want a laptop for simply using it as a computer, for both work and pleasure, and not an accessory. What the Lenovo G550 loses in looks it makes up for in speed, reliability, and ease of use. Had mine for ...
  • Pros: Robust and reliable .
  • Cons: The hard shiny case makes it look slightly cheap .

  • Excerpt: "...to be mentioned that the Lenovo G550 can be purchased with different amounts of memory and RAM, my model has a 500GB hard drive and 4GB RAM, i purcahsed mine from "Save on Laptops" for a very reasonable £400. ==positives== The Lenovo G550, has a matt finish which is excellent as it looks proffesional and is less likely to scratch - which for many people is important. I have owned my now for about two months and so far it has been a pleasure to ...

  • Excerpt: "...I have never heard of Lenovo before this laptop and after going on there web site and reading some other reviews it seemed to be ok. The spec was not bad for that price though, the processor was a C900 Intel® Celeron®, which is 2.2ghz speed which is quite fast well fast enough for me. It has 2GB of ram, 160GB HDD. It has 3 usb ports a vga connector an Ethernet port. It also has a Dual Layer Rewriter. I was hoping it had a card reader and a hdmi connector ...
