Daryl S., Newegg

  • Summary: I bought my wife a newer Leneovo and am also very happy with it. I like this company I believe they continue to make a quality product for a reasonable price
  • Pros: multiple features including S-video, firewire and wireless 2.4 and 5 ghz. Have upgraded memory, hard drive and replace keyboard in past 5 years. Added a second hard drive caddy which houses old hard drive. 750 gig hard drive with 4 gig of Ram running windows 8 pro with no problems and still compa...
  • Cons: has always run a little hot so have to keep the fan clean especially as the unit has aged.

  • Excerpt: I bought my laptop 5 months ago and I am really satisfied with it. The model is Lenovo Y410 and I bought it at $1,000. At first, while I was canvassing the best laptop at a lower price, I did not think I will be buying this brand. When …

  • Excerpt: This is a 7-month old laptop as of this posting, since my date of purchase. This Lenovo Y410 is a great bang for the buck compared to other brands like HP, Toshiba, and Fujitsu, with similar specs. What I bought sports an Intel Centrino T5250 processor, with 1 Gigabyte …

Nice and working okay

Tamika H., Newegg

  • Pros: This computer is pretty light and works swiftly...I recently re-imaged the computer to run Vista Enterprise edition for work. I had a few snags along the way but nothing that couldn't be figured out.
  • Cons: One problem that I've run into has to using the left shift key button with the letter "S" and "C". It does not always work.

A good deal.

Geoffrey F., Newegg
23 April 2008
  • Summary: To find similar specs in another notebook could cost twice as much. I've spent a month looking at different machines and this was the best deal I ran across. You really get a lot for your money, especially after the mail in rebate.
  • Pros: The first thing I noticed about this notebook is that it is built solid. Just about everything on it feels rigid, except for the CD tray, but most CD trays on notebooks are flimsy anyway, at least most of the ones I've seen. 250 gig hard drive is nice, along with 2 gigs of ram. The battery life i...
  • Cons: The Lenovo software that comes with it is pretty lame, but I haven't seen prepackaged software that I liked that wasn't made by a 3rd party. The laptop heats up a bit. I'm going to start looking into under-volting it a bit to see if I can run it a little cooler. The cd tray as mentioned is a bit ...

Disappointing

Jonathan M., Newegg
29 February 2008
  • Summary: The overall style of this laptop is above average but the feel of it is less than I expected from a company assocated with IBM. Granted this isn't a genuin Thinkpad which are rugged, solid business machines.
  • Pros: Battery placement great for ventalation, Screen clarity and resulotion (1280x800), convenient USB placement, Multicard reader, integrated wireless, integrated webcam, multimedia buttons and hotkeys, 2.1 speaker system w/integrated subwoofer. Lightweight at 5.2 LBS.
  • Cons: Placement of function key (I'm used to the CTRL key being there. Placement of the Insert, Delete, PrtSc, Pause, Home and End keys aren't intuitive plus you have to press the function key to use Home or End which is cumbersome. Included Lenovo software is childish especially the webcam software. I...
