  • Summary: Save your money, this item is a complete waste of money and will cause severe headache. My first week of getting this laptop in 2/2010 it would not come on, using my desktop I had to search for a solution to get it back to working. The second year, my fan stopped working, battery stopped working, and the power cord stopped working.

  • Summary: OK, I never write reviews but if I can stop 1 person from making the mistake of purchasing this CQ61-420US - then it will be worth my time. This is the straight scoop so take it to heart: This is an OK cheap laptop. If you can find it for under $350 and you don't mind buying replacement parts in about a year this could be for you. Don't even consider buying this for the prices listed on Amazon.

  • Summary: This worked great at first, until about a year later. Charger died, battery power greatly reduced, and I had a problem with the overheating fan. I've had this laptop for a year and two months and it's already time to replace it. This was, however, the third HP laptop I've owned and the ONLY one where the hinges didn't bust off.

4 Weeks In, Issues Already

  • Summary: I was going to buy an e-machine, but thought this would be better quality. I have an e-machine desk top that is still going after almost two years, however, this Compaq Presario no longer allows me to connect to the internet neither wirelessly nor with the enthernet cord. I've only had this computer about 4 weeks.

18 days past warranty and computer won't turn on.

  • Summary: Compaq CQ61-420US Notebook 1 year and 18 days.... 18 days past warranty computer wont turn on. Compaq will NOT help. They say the board has went out.... I tried everything... finally I picked the laptop up and shook the computer because it didn't matter anymore. I was looking at buying a new computer anyways and now it turns on. Not sure but I'm just praying.... Twice now the shaking has worked. NO HELP from Compaq.

  • Excerpt: I started with a fab, fast, funky laptop. Now, all I have is a laptop thats battery doesnt work so it must be plugged in at all times. The casing on the screen came apart, and cracked as I pushed it back on. It is slow and my internet/word (the main reasons I use it!) always crash. My sister has a much older model, but it works at triple the standard of mine! I am very disappointed it how it ages. It is hard to get sd cards out of the slot.

  • Summary: This isn't the best Notebook on the market. If your are wanting to carry your notebook about with you, this isn't the one for you. It's quite flimsy and can't take any knocks. The power inlet has been temperamental. I've had this laptop for about 6 months and it's had to go for repair twice and had the power leads replaced once. It is hard to prove you haven't knocked it hard so the repair cost landed on me.

Good but Touchpad Gave Problems + On/OFF Button

  • Summary: The left button on the touchpad became very iffy after six months and the on/off button needed encouragement to operate easily. I used this notebook for business and pleasure so it was essential that I had a notebook with parts of high quality. Had to return it in the end after being unable to solve the problem with a helpful HP. In the end they wanted to take it away for repair and that could have taken up to two weeks. Not sure if I would purchase this model again.
