Summary: From opening the box there was trouble. The battery it came with would not hold a charge, then the CD drive would pop out whenever it felt like, the second week the keys started falling off, the touch screen would not function right even with an upgraded touch-pen. After a while the computer started having issues with the touch screen software, so I had to fully uninstall that software. Then the keyboard drivers went haywire.
Excerpt: Upon first receiving my HP TX2500z tablet I was extremely pleased. It worked wonderfully once I turned off all of the annoying and unneccesary Windows Vista features that bog down the interface and deleted all of the bloatware. This computer is decent for graphic design applications and worked great for a little over a year. After the warranty expired, the hard drive began to fail.
Summary: I love this laptop. I bought it used on Amazon many months ago and I've gone through no problems at all. The battery doesn't last too long, so I just take the battery out and keep the computer plugged in. It just makes everything easier so you don't have to take the charger out and put it back in consistently. Whenever I turn the screen around and start using my touchscreen pen, everyone's eyes are on my laptop. "You have an iPad!?
Summary: I purchased this laptop in 2009 because I needed the ability to draw and have the capacity to store large documents. Unfortunately, this laptop only works for 6 months than it fails. Since I have own this laptop I have replaced the hard drive every 6-months. HP provided me an extended warranty due to the problems but when I call for support I was told by HP support the warranty was cancelled.. Who does this? Give you a warranty then cancel it without any notice.
Summary: Loaded with bloatware. Constanly crashes; touch screen was lost for a year and eventually came back by itself! Customer service sucks. After three years of moderate use it went to sleep mode and never recovered. I had not even used DVD drive or sd card readers. I have lost all confidence with HP computers.
Summary: I've had this laptop for nearly a year and I've had no problems with it. It runs fine although the fan is quite loud (in Windows, the fan runs all the time because the processor is constantly at 30%. Thanks Vista and HP's bloatware. In Linux the fans rarely come on when I'm taking notes). The first thing I did when I got the laptop was dump the original drive and upgrade it to a 640GB/7200RPM, so I can't vouch for HP's drive choice.
Summary: after i dropped 2k on this laptop new back in 2005 i figured it would be a nice laptop I WAS WRONG after breaking down on me several times, over heating several times warranty didnt cover it. after searching online for problems with this laptop i noticed allot of users were facing the same problems, the motherboard would just overheat frequently.
Summary: I bought my tx2500 back in mid 2008 and is still with me here in Dec 2011... It has endured years of transit travel rattle, long study sessions and calculations. Music, video, programming, photoshop, gaming you name it== which works fine for the most part, if not noisily and particularly always running hot!!... I run this thing to its max, its served me quite well, and its finally showing its age which is to be expected.
Summary: I bought this laptop before and was very very disappointed! It has blackscreen problem. I searched on internet and found other people also had such issue. It has hardware design bug which causing overheating. I threw away the laptop and bought a new one. I will not buy any hp laptop in the future. Good luck to you if you still want to take risk and try it.
Summary: HP's quality are being probed and many laptops recalled in Asia now. Quite a few models are being reported with display problems. The US models are not much better. My own $1000 laptop broke down right after warranty period and the customer service manager said "we can't do any thing for you." So, just stay away from HP laptops.
