Summary: After comparing the various Chromebooks at some length, I decided that the HP Chromebook-14 offered the best features and performance for the money. Initially I was considering one of the 11.6 in screen Chromebooks, but I'm very glad I went with the 14 in display. The screen on this notebook is outstanding and greatly enhances all we do on the computer.
Summary: The product arrived quick and in secure packaging, and I've been using it for about a week now. My view of it is pretty much on par with what others have said, but I don't know why everyone's been bashing the resolution of the screen. It has a great, clear display. I will say that he word processing software for offline use is a little rudimentary, but since this is a web-based computer, that makes sense.
Summary: Overall the computer is fine. Heavier and longer than expected. It was shorter and longer than my previous HP purchased in 2007. I expected it to be smaller since it's only a 14". windows 8 is a bit annoying. Being accustomed to closing out apps on an iPhone, it's strange having an app screen on the computer that you can't really close. the Internet Explorer is on a completely different screen. Difficult to get used to. Starts up and shuts down quickly.
Summary: If you are looking for an easy-to-use means to surf the web, stream videos, and chromecast, this is a great unit. The keyboard is high quality (even survived a soda spill), as is the touchpad. The screen doesn't have the highest resolution, but it's still plenty good and bright. And having 14 inches is way better than 11. Lots of ports too. The battery life is excellent. Sound isn't bad either. We only have the 2 GB model, but there's never been a hint of sluggishness.
