Four Years Later, still a formidable unit!

Summary: I've never regretted buying computers with more resources and expandability than I've thought I needed--it allows me to upgrade and use the machines far past the 'usual' three-year 'obselecense' factor!
Pros: Been a great model for college, with ample capabilities for the software demands AND entertainment capabilities, too!
Cons: Not HP's fault: I bought a display model that had been directly in contact with a solid sheet metal shelf. I've had to send it in twice for warranty work (but to the third-party extended warranty outfit, not HP) for new MBx2, new primary HDx1, and new RAM x2. The motherboard alone cost twice what...
Summary: I can not find a better deal for the features and price. Even on the HP site. If you want it all. This is the laptop for you.
Pros: This Laptop does it all. I have not found one thing that it does not do. I can play games,I can record TV (OTA and Digital Cable),I can use my HTDV as my monitor (LN-T4661),Blu-Ray player works great at 1080P over HDMI, wireless works 802.11G, full keyboard. I could go on and on.
Cons: It is big. I use it at home as my blu-ray player. So I do not move it around much. Gets pretty hot. I bought a Zalman Chiller ZM-NC2000 to solve that (fits perfect).
Summary: Excellent Design, packed with features. I bought the DV9745US from a store. It had all the same features but came with a 1.67GHZ Processor and 320GB of Storage for $1399.00. I loaded Crysis and ran it at 21 FPS,I expected it to be slow. But then I bought the 2.4 T7700 CPU from Newegg.
Pros: Excellent design. The case is sturdy and very attractive. It is packed with features that are becoming standard on all laptops. 3 Gigs for 32-Bit OS is perfect. The Webcam and Mic are fast. The Blu-Ray Player looks great on the laptop and perfect when using HDMI on an external LCD. The touchpad i...
Cons: 5400 RPM Hard Drive. Mine Came with 2 160GB 5400 RPM Western Digitals. I replaced them both with 2 200GB 7200 RPM Western Digitals. Then I put the 160's in a USB case for 10.00 each to use as extra back ups. If your a Gamer you already know 5400 does not cut it.
Summary: - Someone still needs to come up with a scratch/fingerprint-free finish! Nice finish indeed, but be careful, specially with your watches... - Bill Gates still wants you to run Vista on this one, but you can make it go XP with a little patience
Pros: - It's Fast - Bluray Player - HDMI port - GforceM 8600 GS - dx10/h264 decoding - fast little thing - Intel PRO/Wireless 4965AGN - Wireless N - Half terabyte of storage split into 2 x 250g disks - Price x features compared to other current vendors would be 2x more at least
Cons: - No hardware RAID option with those 2 hdds, guess thats expecting too much
Pros: This is the second 17" HP laptop I have bought recently. The great thing about this computer are all of the features. A lot of hard drive space, memory, and a fast processor. I hook it up to my entertainment system with an HDMI cable and now I have a Blue Ray drive to watch movies on my LCD HDTV....
Cons: I would like a little higher resolution and I don't care for the small right shift key.
Summary: Video card performance clarification. I was able to play at mid high settings with COD 4 just fine - If i played it at high settings it slowed down a bit but CRYSIS could only perform at the lowest setting. I also have Rainbow Six Vegas and Battlefield 2 and it plays nice (mid high settings).
Pros: Nice CPU speed - C2D -2ghz -,3gb Memory,250gb x 2 HDD,Bluray ROM and tv tuner. Video card delivers a better performance than what i thought.Speakers are very loud as well. Not a whole lot of junkware installed. As of 3/01/08. The index score of this laptop given by Windows Vista is 4.8
Cons: LCD screen resolution is only 1400x900. I would've loved 1600x1050 resolution at least.Video card can not perform at the highest settings for the newest games. When I play videogames on it, it is not quiet but not very loud either
Summary: running Vista ultimate with sp1 and compatability is great.
Pros: Great 32bit performer at a terrific price. Build quality, Blu-ray disc player and screen are big plisses as well as the 2 x 250gig 5400rpm drives.
Cons: Why did HP criple this unit by keeping the processor stepped in 32 bit mode only. No 64bit for this baby. not a major concern for me though on a laptop, as 64 bit drivers are hard to come by yet.
Summary: Newegg should not have to offer products where the manufacturer then undersells them at their own site. HP has the 9700t even with the Penryn 2.5 for much less money (especially with a coupon). I love NewEgg and that's not fair to them or to their customers.
Pros: This is a very nice machine. I compared the major manufacturers and the HP's have superior fit, finish and design. I replaced my old Hp DV4000 with my 9700t. It has an Intel processor - I like that.
Cons: Too bad it lacks the bluetooth, the higher res screen, the fingerprint reader, the flexibility of a custom build etc, etc. I love to loathe HP, great machines but their service and repair departments are just so terrible.
