Excellent PC! This laptop is a beast. Seems like the other negative reviews either didn't do their research or mishandled it.

Summary: I've had this laptop for several years during college and it's performed like a boss. I've played games, done graphic and web design and internet browsing all at once and it runs smooth. The other negative reviews are a bit misleading because they fail to acknowledge how or why their PC's went bunk OR they didn't do research. In fact the model I have was made before the supposed failures of the past 3 years.
After almost 2 years with it, its still amazing and in great shape.

Summary: Ive had this thing for a good year and a half now. Runs every game ive threw in it amazingly including Crysis 3, Metro 2033, Bioshock Infinite, and the infinite list of games that I have. I had the fan blow out once, but its because I way overheated it with no external fan. I bought a cheap maybe $20 external for the bottom and no problems since, and the fan fix was no biggie. You will really enjoy this thing but im sure you can find it for a better price.
Summary: This is a great laptop for the price and Amazon has great customer service. It is fast and the only thing I did to make it faster, is installed an SSD hard drive and am using it as my primary drive and using the hard drive that came with it, as my secondary hard drive. The only negative thing that people should know is that it only comes with a 2.4GHz Wireless card and I would like to have a 5GHz card which is 8 X faster.
Summary: We use this laptop primarily for photos, email, facebook, Sykpe and movies. The 17.3 inch HD display, Blu-Ray player, i5 processor, and 4 USB ports make this a great laptop for our needs. We also love the finger print reader for signing on quickly. On the downside, there is no indication of which USB ports are 3.0 and which are slower 2.0 and HP manuals are no help since they have so many laptops that are configured differently.
Does not work properly with external monitors. Very Bad Support
30 January 2012
Summary: Purchased additional 3 year support, paid over $349. called and tried to get support from HP support but their support system is really bad. I use HP 2710m external monitor. when I connect with HDMI cable, the external HP monitor does not show the whole screen, it cuts off half an inch on each side of the screen. when I connect with VGA, it works fine. Also I have Sony laptop, when I connect with sony laptop to the same external monitor via HDMI, everything works fine.
Summary: I purchased an HP dv7t t6500 a year and quarter ago. I have always had Dell Desktops but decided on this HP laptop based on my previous work history at Bell Labs using quality HP equipment. When this computer worked, it ran great but the memory went bad every 5 to 6 months! The first time (5 month)s I had to work through 3 days of service calls for them to take it back to repair even though it was obvious what was wrong.
Summary: I do not have this particular model of HP laptop, but the HP company does not stand behind their product. If you look on the HP message boards you will find many reviews/complaints about laptops made in the last 3 years with motherboard failure 2-3 years after purchasing. HP refuses to do anything for their customers except charge them $249.00 to replace the motherboard. At that price the laptop becomes a throw away item. Unacceptable. Do your research.

Summary: This machine is an excellent machine in many ways. The keyboard has a great feel, the screen is large and bright, and moving between apps is very fast. I was very very happy with it until I realized that I cannot sync my iphone (using itunes) on it. There seems to be a known problem with laptops containing the Intel PM55 or p55 chipsets, which is inside this latop. Various forums are discussing this problem.
