Summary: Overall I like it. The screen is nice and big and its got plenty of processing power. The caveats I would list are: Its not up to snuff for gaming. Random errors in games that seem like they should be supported (see Mass Effect/Mass Effect 2/Skyrim) will annoy or infuriate you if you are buying with the assumption you can run them. The bigger beef on my particular unit is that the DVD drive seems to be "weak".
Summary: I won't give you five stars just for two reasons: When I close the laptop and then, I open it to continue working, the brightness button (which is a key from the keyword) does not work. I have to restart my computer to get it work again. And the second reason I am not giving you 5 stars is that the case is methalic and the computer some times gets hot and then, the OS turns off the computer. I had to bought a fan cooler pad to keep the computer cool.
Summary: I like it a lot. It's a good laptop. The only problem with the item was it was not what I ordered. The item was advertised with Windows 7. It had Windows 8.Rather than going to the trouble of returning it I just learned how to use Windows 8. Windows 8 was an unnecessary update to Windows, but it's usable as is.
Summary: Good Laptop, I just love HP. Never dissapoint with it. Haven't found anything bad about this product, I will try to play game with more higher graphic resolution and we'll see how this thing can handle it.
Summary: I have an earlier model dv7 with just about half of all the specs as this current one for $800 at Office Depot. I got it 3 years ago. PROS: + It's great for casual gaming + It's fast enough + It'll run Minecraft and anything of similar quality at full settings smoothly + It will run Creo Parametric 2.0 and Autodesk programs without lag unless you turn on reflections + It'll make you warm in the winter + If you have a heavy duty large backpack, you can put it in there...
