Summary: I've had my HP dv7t-7000 for a little over two years and I don't think I would recommend it anymore. I got a great price for it (paid $750 original price was $1200), but had I known then what I know now I would have paid more for something better or waited for something else. First off, the laptop will get really hot. I'm going to assume its an issue with the cooling system due to lack of proper ventilation or another cooling fan.

Summary: ok, trying to write a recent review on this product...the specs are way out of current terms....the Dv7 is a great upgradeable laptop to Windows 7...if you buy one at a decent price. Win7 64 bit is around 90 bucks, US. I just bought a supposed parts computer with a failed Vista reinstall..
Summary: The computers hard drive was smaller than advertised i think. I say it this way because there are some software problems that might be affecting how the computer sees the hard drive. These are startup software issues. I did make an adjustment in the price so I will just deal with the issues.
Summary: Soon after receiving the unit, I noticed that it had a faulty battery and was not charging. It was not being detected by the HP notebook;. I ordered a replacement which solved this problem. A couple days later, i noticed the wireless function would work some time and some time it wouldn't. i tried a few things to fix it including installing new drivers.
Summary: I seldom write bad reviews - but had to about this laptop for 3 main reasons. I should first state that all-in-all, it seems to be a decent machine and I purchased it because I'm replacing an older HP dv6 unit - and this dv7t-4000 was one of the only decent laptops I could get that still came with Windows 7 - not touching Windows 8. Now for the specific problems that get the unit the two star rating: 1.
Summary: I purchased my dv7-6c95dx a little more than a year ago. It had awesome specs and i was exited to have a viable laptop that could run memory intensive programs with ease (games, video streaming services, hd video, etc.). It did run very well, for the first couple months. The cooling fan became a very big distraction, constantly running at full power, even when i had the power setting on power saver + lowest screen brightness.
Summary: I give it a 2-star rating because the battery life is good and intel core 7 with 6GB memory and with the great price too, $650 for Black Friday. But what make me disappointed the most is the workmanship, the keyboard fell aparts after I have been using for 1 year. You need to handle it with extra care, don't be faulted with the aluminum look, the rim is easy to be broken even though i have never drop it.
Summary: Do not buy. This laptop lastes less than 2.5 years and for that kind of money I expected more. Turns out the problem is well known and yet they continued to sell this model. Before you buy, google hp pavilion dv7 won't wake up from sleep mode or dv7 won't boot up and read about it for yourself. Loved this laptop until it just suddenly stopped working with no warning signs and no drops/spills/abuse/virus.
