Summary: After reading all the negative reviews on this laptop I had to put my 2 cents in. I did notice most of the reviews were from 2009 and 2010. I bought mine in 2005 and have had none of the problems everybody mentions. I use it just about everyday and I've never had to replace anything on this unit.
Summary: Read these two links and then my story below: [...] I was a faithful HP customer until now. We bought a dv6000 in July 2007 from Circuit City and thank God we bought the protection plan plus also. This laptop has been in for repair 3 times since last summer and all the same problems described in the Kioskea posts.
Summary: Ive had my HP Pavilion dv6000 for only 2 years have taken care of it but it has been giving me constant problems. At first the battery started draining so fast even though it said "completely charged" it would die in 4 to 5 minutes. I had the battery replaced. Next the power cord is of such poor quality that it ripped off from the brick ...i had to get a new one.
Summary: I bought this computer three years ago and it has been giving me trouble for almost the entire time. The picture and sound quality are really the only things good about this pc. This computer is ideal for watching movies. The adapter is HORRIBLE. The cord of the adapter keeps breaking (it actually almost caught on fire once) and I've had to replace it FOUR TIMES. Additionally, the computer gets very hot pretty quickly.
Summary: We bought this laptop a year and a half ago. It has failed twice already. Loses the screen, each repair costs 140-180 $. It is undependable & unreliable, I agree with previous reviews. Very poor cost to value ratio. I have had way better experience with Dell & Toshiba laptops. I made a huge mistake when I gave HP a shot. After this experience, I would never buy an HP laptop again.
Summary: I agree with all the posts associated to the HP DV6000. 2 hard-drives later and now about to have a 3rd replaced (since I have the 3 year warranty) in 1 year. HP has guaranteed one lost customer and I will freely let everyone know my experience with their products (their printers are just as bad). Stay clear of HP!
Summary: HP SUCKS *** HP SUCKS *** HP SUCKS I bought 2 HP Pavilion Laptops and one of them was giving software (OS) problem from the beginning. I sent the laptop to HP to re-image. Even after re-imaging the laptop (OS) didn't work after a while. Looks like they put corrupted OS again. I had a original HP recovery DVD that I bought from HP which did not the do the job either. Every time I try to recover and restart it goes to recover mode again.
