Summary: I bought one of these about 5 years ago and it's just at the end of its life. This is a good laptop if you want it for your kids to do their schoolwork or just browsing the Internet and social media. It doesn't have much processing power it cant handle many tabs opened at once. As you add more programs to it, it becomes sluggish and the boot up time is painful to say the least. However it had lasted me longer than I expected although I had to replace the battery once.
Summary: First off, I love how fast the computer is. Navigating is always snappy and i have not had any problems with the processor or memory. However, Since windows 7 is a memory hog i have elected to upgrade the system to 8GB DDR3. It now runs flawlessly and i can not complain about the performance. I bought this laptop off of craigslist for 250 dollars which i think was an ok deal.
Summary: The time and product was fast and excellent like the seller than offers this. It works perfectly fine and is the same like the pic. But the hard disk was bad, it has a "clac, clac" since it arrive, it come with a mechanical problem.
Summary: Love the specs and how it runs swiftly. Hate windows 8 gestures which I accidentally do a lot. Hate that its really bulky.. The bulk on the screen is like a tablet with all components inside. Hate that A few weeks in, the P button wasn't working well.. became hard to press and didn't register the stroke always. It seem to worked it self out in 2 weeks. I really didn't want to return another computer...
Summary: I had this computer for about 3 weeks before returning it. The DV-4 envy was a nice machine, but I thought that Windows 8 was an absolute struggle. I tried to study everything I could about Windows 8 on line, asking computer techies, looking for software to work with in "8". Finally I just gave up. Would have loved this laptop with Windows 7, but why pay extra for a downgrade, but would that have worked?.
Summary: Laptop with great performance and great features overall for the price but low-average battery life. Web Cam is great. You can have a bit of trouble with the laptop such as a black screen if you don't have a lot of care for it.
Summary: I loved the look of this laptop but I had problems connecting to the internet. It was delivered on Dec. 27 and for 3 hrs I was on the phone with HP no internet. Day two called my internet provider and Netgear representative. Everything worked fine in that department; other devices was working but this new computer did not. After two more hours on the phone with HP no internet. They tried to convince me it was not a Windows 8.
Summary: I bought this computer because it fit my price range, had the new (at the time) i5 processor, windows 7, it looked nice, and the screen size and keyboard were what I was looking for. It is nice to type on, I can type on this computer better than any other computer I own, but the keys are slick and grime up very easily. Same goes for the slick feel of the entire computer. You can clean it off but your hands always leave it marked up and slimy feeling.
Summary: I bought two of these laptops back in September 2009. The battery life is pretty good with an average of about 3 hours. the weight and portability make this a good laptop as well. The programs run smoothly and overall I have enjoyed the laptop. The major flaw of this laptop is that after two years, neither of the laptops will take a charge. The charging port has become loose and now I have to spend about 45 minutes trying to get this computer to charge.
