Summary: As many HP laptop owners noted in their reviews, the DVD drive in my HP laptop stopped reading disks after about 18 months of ownership (and I hardly ever transport this laptop). Sometimes it could read, sometimes not, and sometimes it could not even read the DVD it had just written to. I had doubts that it might not work with my specific laptop model because it's a CTO (Custom To Order) but it does, so I'll confirm that it works well with the HP DV8T Pavilion-1200 CTO.
Summary: I installed the drive about 4 days ago and am very impressed with the performance so far. The installation only took about 3 minutes and that included re-using my existing face plate which fit better with my laptop than the face plate provided. Note: this was my first time replacing a laptop drive and it was truly plug-and-play. So far, I have burned about 15 movies with this drive.
Summary: I bought this dvd/cd burner not knowing if it truely was lightscribe compatable because I was told if it didn't have the light scribe logo on the burner it wasn't lightscribe compatable. I was confused because of the name of the product but it had no logo. So I called HP which was no help all they could do was tell me it would fit in my Compaq Presario CQ57 even though it says CQ50 and CQ70. It is compatable..
Summary: I do not know how I got it at such a deal, but it is an authentic HP DVD Burner replacement for my G62-225nr Laptop. It did not initially fit my laptop, but I CAREFULLY Remove the faceplate from your original DVD Burner and replace it to the new I received. NOw, I can watch my movies and burn my DVD's in the comfort of my living room, game room, bathroom and even closet.
