Keep away from HP laptops!
14 August 2010
Summary: I bought one of these in November 2007. After 6 months the hard drive went and just after the warranty ran out the laptop packed in!! I have now discovered that the NVidia graphics card is the big problem. Google NVidia Defect forum and see what I mean. HP support have been most unhelpful and refused to do anything. The laptop in deemed 'inherently defective' and under sale of goods act I can get a refund up to 6 years after the date of purchase. So in short...
Summary: needed to replace my aging Desktop recently, and narrowed my search down to HP and Toshiba. Just as I was about to take the plunge, Vista arrived, making my initial choice totally impractical. As I recall, the Pavilion Range is designed primarily as an entertainment Laptop. It looked, however, very well Specc'd, and the day that John Lewis got them in stock, I went to look at one and was sold on it there and then.
Excerpt: This laptop cost me £630 when bought brand new last September, and I have found it to be a brilliant laptop that easily copes my abuse! I have roughly 60gb of music, videos and photos saved onto the 160gb hard drive and it shows no sign of slowing down at all yet. The built in webcam is really handy for use on msn messenger etc and copes really well when I want to use it to take photos or make short movies and play with editing them on Windows Movie Maker, which comes...
Summary: I've found that this laptop is good enough for most of my use at home. It's used for Internet browsing, word-processing, blog posting as well as using with my ipod. My only gripe would be the touchpad. It doesn't have a good feel and is not very accurate. A bluetooth mouse would be ideal with this. Pros: Very nice design, perfect size (15.4" screens are too big IMHO), nice amount of RAM and Bluetooth as standard Cons: Touchpad is erratic and feels too smooth.
Summary: Let me first say that this laptop suits my needs. I have a desktop PC for power, speed, video editing, gaming etc - this laptop is not the fastest. The laptop itself is well designed and is packed with features and functionality. It will do (almost) anything you ask of it (games players look elsewhere) and is a decent all round performer.
Excerpt: I review this laptop because i believe that it combines a good amount of everything that you would look for in a versatile pc - brains, brawn and beauty. As a designated home pc, i find it still believable that it is a versatile mobile platform as HPstates. As an entertainment Notebook pc series, it does not fail to deliver. With 160GB of hard drive, it is easily enough to store your movies, videos and music.

Summary: I have an HP Desktop Computer and also Printer and have generally found their products to be reliable and of good quality. However, this computer is very well specified and ticks all the right boxes. It looks great and has an excellent screen and sound quality. However, with regard to more practical considerations it is disappointing performance..
Summary: Notebook leggero, molto performante e di ottima qualità costruttiva.
