Summary: Purchased a brand new computer on 1/3/15. Started it up and it had a virus on it. According to pre installed McAfee-virus was from 8\5\2014! Obviously not new. Had to hire an i.t. guy to fix it. Need to have better quality controls on merchandise.
Summary: I've now had this laptop for a little over a year. It's had minimal use (about once per month for simple online banking use), and out of nowhere it did a regular update/restart, and now it will not turn back on. It tries to restart, but then just continues to "restart" and never actually makes it to the desktop. Beyond disappointed and frustrated, especially since I started working from home the SAME day this happened.
Summary: Nothing but problems in the year that I've had this computer. They've replaced the hard drive, the webcam twice, fans, etc...and still it doesn't work. They wouldn't even repair it without charging me another $160 and then it still didn't work. This is my 3rd and final HP. They suck, their computers suck and there customer service is useless.

Summary: 13 Months before motherboard failure. No warranty service. New, direct from HP replacement motherboard, $298 out of pocket, lasted 4 months. The touchpad is not recessed far enough, and it's annoyingly sensitive. The click buttons for the touchpad are only slightly less noisy than my diesel truck. The glossy screen is great if used in a completely dark room, if you're narcissistic.
Summary: *Warning* Laptop not as advertised. HP is advertising an AMD Elite Quad-Core A8-5550M with an AMD Radeon HD 8550G graphics card. What you will receive is an Quad-Core A8-4500M with a Radeon HD 7640G graphics card. This was a gift for my gf on christmas, it ran slow for her out of the box, confusingly hogging up 70% physical memory just sitting open with no apps running. Item has been returned.
DO NOT buy an HP! It's worth the extra $ for an Apple. HP will swindle you with their horrible products!

Summary: Steer clear of HP products! New pavilion 17 purchased direct from HP was infected malware viruses, infected my old laptop, continued to have problems after tech support "fixed" it and was to,d that it would just continue to have problems. After my latest session with hp tech support today the laptop I'll no longer even work! Can't even turn it on.
Summary: This laptop worked ok out of the box but shortly after it became a large paperweight. I have tried to no avail to return it to factory settings and starting over, however that too leads to crashing and lock-ups. I am ready to just chuck it in the trash and chalk up my money as a loss.
