Summary: The seller said that the mini had a limited battery life when in fact it has none. The moment you disconnect the power, it turns off. Furthermore, the factory settings when they are installed lead to another host of problems. Examples: you can't change the desktop themes and there isn't even an option for this in the menus, the computer clocks out frequently and programs seem to run unstably, an example being MS Word, which will no longer run for some inexplicable...
Excerpt: In October 2009 I purchased a Hewlett Packard HP Mini 210-1090NR (WA550UA) Netbook. I used it only two weeks when the operating system would not load. I called HP. HP said it sounded like the hard drive needed to be replaced. They gave me a service number and said they would mail me a carton for shipping. It took six weeks for the carton to arrive via Federal Express. I packaged the netbook up and sent it back to HP via U.S.
Excerpt: I have always thought that HP was one of the top computer out there. Until I got this mini laptop for christmas from my dad. When i first played on it, it was fine. I used it for travel and anytime i went to someplace with internet. About a month after Christmas it started freezing up and over heating really bad and turning off on its self. That made me really mad.
Summary: The minute I turned it on, I noticed a few dead pixels, but I decided to ignore them. I noticed all the bloatware and it took a while to remove it. I noticed how slow and sluggish it was, but thought that would improve as I got things set up. I wasn't able to install a very simple photo-editing program, but that was the fault of the insufficient screen resolution.
Summary: I purchased two of these for use in travel. One of the netbooks has an issue with the keys sticking, and one of the shift key does not work. On both unit, they just turn off for no reason, losing everything you have. If it was on just one of the units, I would have thought it a manufacturing error, but for both, it has to be a poor design in general. Normally HP units have been pretty good, but after this I really have to reconsider.
Summary: I ordered two the first broke within two weeks so cheaply made the plastic hedge disconnected however I order replacement the screen went blank with 3 weeks and now cannot get my money back from Amazon do not purchase
Summary: horrible netbook! i bought the old version for my mom last year and it was much better. i bought this one (210-4150NR) for myself, and i regret it! i can't believe HP would make a netbook WORSE than the prior. negatives: -slow, even when i switched to the newer Windows -heavy even though they claim it's light -loud when typing (also, i wished the keyboard had a backlight...didn't think about this before buying it). typing feels very awkward.
Summary: Ten days after the warranty expires...the computer loses its OS. What? Where did it go? It refers you to the hp website to read there what to do. None of the info was helpful nor did it get me back my OS. I can assure you it was nothing that I had done to the netbook - although after speaking with HP...I must have done something to it. But it is interesting to see how many others posted on their message boards the same issue. Look in the mirror HP...it is your junk.
Summary: I purchased the HP Mini 110-3518CL in April of 2011. First, I would have to say that setup with HP is not user friendly. You need to go through a lot of prompts and then it takes a while to boot. In addition, HP controls almost everything on this computer. Windows 7 starter really is a tease, and the commands are very hard to peruse. After having this computer for about 7 months the frame on the sides (basal) started popping apart.
